Wow look at all that profit... you have to love capitalism.

This advertisement was paid for by the Bush Administration.

Remember kids... nothing lasts ;)
Anyone else considered this might be a ploy to increase the unit sales of one region more than another?

How many people are going to look at this price and say garbage I'll import or get one from their 'friend' who lives over there.

Lets face it at the price of the system Sony are not going to shift alot of units but at the end of the day I'll bet you anything they still want to say 'the PS3 owns Japan'
Does anyone know if business analysts actually pay attention to this anyway?

All I've ever seen them pay attention to is the bottom line number of console distributed from the manufacturer and as you can guess offers like this just go to help the bottom line.
What I love is the fact that ANY other BLU-RAY player manufacturer will have to ship their units for $300 or less or they won't get any sales, people will just go for the PS3.... that's if they are stupid enough to go for BLU-RAY

Sony you have just signed your own death warrent... but you will survive like Sega
I'm sorry is it just me or does anyone else wonder if they have created an extorsionate price so they can get away with giving away less????

If there giving away I just hope that it's measured at cost and not at RRP. I seriously doubt that that has a $400 cost price attached to it (or even that it's worth that much - but then again maybe it will be to someone in the third world)

As people say though... how the heck do you power it??? - powered by advertisements or maybe hotair.

Why be so sarcastic? Big companies have had abilities to help for years only in the day and age when new markets need to be secured do they actually do so.

I can picture the ebay searches now... (full of these things)
Sorry Chris your a little missinformed:

'Either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray has to win' no there is VMD which will win in China and India, and where are most things made these days... (yeah I'm generalising a little)

Also your DVD play from what I've read is NOT 1080p it's 1080i, if you had wanted just a 1080i player there has been one out for well about a year and a half:

Seriously I'm thinking future not too bright for HD DVD and Blu-Ray, online movies on demand systems are around now, besides the way they should of gone is VMD... this lot is a sad waste of R&D money.
There are other ways to produce more power you know...

Or check out Tesla's work from almost 100 years ago!
I always find it funny that Sony come out with products similar to everyone else after others have done it first and well usually better too...

Square and portable lol
I wonder if these will come with the windows IE trojan inside?

5000 hijackable boxes from a webpage.

Seriously this will create a nice IT support economy... no wait I doubt that I'm sure they already have there own IT support plans.

On that subject does anyone else feel MS have held Vista for 2 years just to get their 'bugs' out of it?

Roll on somebody installing Linux and open software on these! :)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
