As much as I really enjoy Vista, I can't wait to move to Windows 7.
Any computer loaded with Vista bought after July 1st anywhere will be eligible for free upgrade to 7.

Why not just wait 5 days and not get one from Best Buy?
And most of us who are gadget freaks have already been using this update for about two weeks.
I have a blackberry on Verizon, the GPS isn't locked down at all.
In general I stay away from the contests for products I don't really have a use for, I could use a new xbox game to bide my time while i search for a job.
If you wrote a program to do this on a blackberry they couldn't block it. (Sure they might not approve it to be part of their appstore) But my favorite blackberry feature is the fact that it's open without having to jail break it or pay for a developers license.

I downloaded a dice rolling simulator this morning that also has the ability to use 'dirty dice', no way would that ever be approved for use on the iPhone.
Have you tried sure press? It's one of the best things about the storm. The ability to highlight something without clicking it is a nice touch. You can use extra features with it too, it's like having a right mouse button.
"Now Google Maps for the Storm has been updated to allow access to the internal GPS -- something that probably couldn't be done without Big Red's blessing."

This actually is not true. Verizon has made GPS available on the Storm for 3rd party apps for a while now, and there were a number of apps that had taken advantage of this including Weatherbug and Poynt. What Verizon hadn't made available was the use of aGPS to lock onto satellites quicker.

The problem with google maps was completely google code related. Basically their code was something like:
If (aGPS)
getLocationFromAGPS();
else
getLocationFromTriangulation();

when it should have been something like:
If (aGPS)
getLocationFromAGPS();
else if (GPS)
getLocationFromGPS();
else
getLocationFromTriangulation();

Now there's every reason to blame Verizon for not making aGPS available to 3rd party Apps, but people had been telling Google about this for a long time, so it was nice for Google to finally make the changes.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
