Google Voice users can also record incoming calls, and GV will automatically transcribe the conversation. The transcription isn't 100% accurate, but it's a good start, and you always have the recording.
Here's another vote for the Sanyo eneloop external battery. It's great for the iPhone. Unfortunately, it no longer appears to be in production, and is hard-to-find. Our local Costco has some for under $30, and it's a great deal at that price.
Yeah, I'm thinking this may kill the possibility of ever having the iPhone on Verizon.
Interestingly, AT&T's confirmation letter says that the iPhone "will be processed to arrive as early as June 19, 2009". They don't guarantee Friday delivery.

It wouldn't surprise me if the AT&T pre-orders arrived over the course of a few days, as I'm wondering if the local FedEx (or whatever shipper they use) can handle the sudden onslaught of thousands (tens of thousands?) of overnight delivery packages. I'd LOVE to be wrong, though.

Also, I don't know about AT&T, but other cell phone companies insist on a signature for package delivery. People who are expecting the overnight delivery iPhones should probably arrange to be home.
Well, I can't speak for others, but I'm upgrading from a 1st-gen iPhone, and I'm upgrading to get (1) more memory (the 8GB in my old iPhone isn't enough), (2) a GPS, and (3) a better camera. I'm hoping that the new macro mode is good enough for taking pictures of handwritten/typed pages (if it can, evernote will make this VERY useful).

Upgrading every year may not be a good idea, but upgrading every other year can be.
Somewhere, I read that there's an "automacro mode" that can focus as close as 10cm. Let's hope that is true. 10cm is still pretty far, but it may be good enough.
I'm hoping that the new 3GS macro mode will take decent close-up pictures (of documents, etc.), eliminating the need for hacks like clarifi. I happen to like the (non-Griffin) case that I use.
Evernote also allows you to mark documents for offline access on the iPhone. You can view documents like PDFs in Evernote, even if you have no iPhone internet access (wifi, 3G, or EDGE).
iTunes exists as a method of selling hardware. Apple would be crazy to allow a significant competitor (the Pre) to continue to use iTunes (without some kind of licensing/royalties or somesuch). I'd be very surprised if Apple did not shut this down or did not get some concession from Palm.
Meh. While this is nice, I use Zenbe Lists for this. While it's slightly more expensive, it's also general-purpose -- I can use it for more than just packing. I can also make my lists online, and then sync to my iPhone (or vice-versa).

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
