Michael,

$13 a share?? You mean back in July-August of 1997 just before the Macworld Boston when Bill Gates announced he was purchasing $150 million dollars of Apple? I believe it was $12.97. My 13 year old son said that since I loved Apple so much, why don't I buy a hundred shares since we were up in Boston? I told him I wasn't going into his college fund and the arguement ensued. After the Keynote, Apple employees were walking around with wireless connections showing that by the end of the day, Apple was at $29.50. So the $1350 then is worth $52,800 today not including dividends, etc. And I won (LOST) the arguement.

As an Apple Demo person for the iMac intro, I got to explore the iMac the night before its intro. Luckily, the Micro Center I was demoing at had two units set aside. So the Mac Department, tech people and I followed the instructions on one iMac as we dissected the other to see how to up the RAM. 23 screws, 21 minutes and several business cards later (to prevent the screws from falling through the ventilation grilles), we had an iMac with 256 MB that flew!

As to the hockey puck, there were two great things about it. One: Contour Design came out with a cover soon after that made it feel like a real mouse and two: so many USB mouse manufacturers came out with with Mac drivers it opened the flood gates for other 3rd party items.

b-rad & idfk,

Since I teach in Philly, perhaps some perspective might change your tunes. Both students were awaiting transfer to disciplinary high schools for previous violations, the District has strict regulations about electronics which this teacher was enforcing and he is highly regarded by the students, staff and community. He is also the photographer for the school, a playwright and was defended after the fact by students for his actions.

Also, District policy is that we don't 'steal' the electronics but turn it over to the administration. This was nothing more than a sneak attack by two punks.

b-rad and idfk, so sorry that your high school experiences were evidentally so bad and that you were stuck with a roster of uncaring teachers who were unable to ever teach you anything. Why don't you try teaching for a career? I have for 35 years and while I'm not the most laid back guy in the world, I can point to thousands of students who might have disagreed with my actions but never took it this extreme. We usually talked things out.
A Harmon Kardon Go & Play speaker system for my iPods and lots of bills for my wife's and son's gifts. But February 1st is my birthday so whatever Apple introduces next month that's 'needed' will be added.

Figure it will cost somewhere around $7000 based on other Rock Ola jukeboxes. See

Simple. Woz returns as the "CEO" with Jonathan Ive and Phil Schiller splitting the actual hard work. After the situation has stabilized, Woz (remember, he's mainly a nuts and bolyts guy) slowly eases himself out leaving the company in the hands of ....... Ive. Ive's the concept man; Schiller's the marketing guy. Would Jonathan have jumped off that balcony onto the air bag 10 feet below at Macworld NYC to prove the viability of Airport? Only Phil!
Besides disposing of the issue between my wife and myself over what size HD to get, this would be the perfect screen for Direct TV's NFL football package. No more skimpy 27" tube.
I'll be there as will many UserGroup members. Woz is approachable and a funny guy. The talk will probably be over WAY too soon.
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom by the Collegians. That's Doo-Wop for those of you not old enough to know what really great harmonies are.
Somewhere I hear the Stones singing "She's A Rainbow" and see those Sonys swirling around. Steve WILL sue!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I love my little computing companion but I often find myself missing a full sized keyboard. I have been looking at several of these portable and flexible keyboards, but I can't seem to make up my mind about which I should buy. I don't want the keyboard to be overly expensive, but I want it to be good quality. Also, how difficult is it to type on these keyboards? Thanks!"
