yes, but Crossloop actually installs an application that puts an icon onto the users desktop and then asks them to register (which they can skip but).

So far this is quick and painless. Just tested it and it's quite nice.
What the what!?

This is fantastic.

Crossloop requires a download which worries some.

Hopefully this is as smooth as www.showmypc.com
I don't know if I can deal with WinMo anymore. At $300 you can get 32gigs with an iPhone.

I'm using a Tilt with 6.5 now. The staggered 6.5 start menu is hard on the eyes. There's no way to sort it and no more recent programs. IE is now completely useless. At lease before it was quick for mobile sites. Now it has useless horizontal scrolling.
You can't tap on the screen without misfire. I bet the Tilt2 will also be this way since it has a resistive screen.

Besides that, the apps just haven't evolved with the competition.
Not that anyone cares considering the one and only comment.

I've been a WinMo user since the Velo.

6.1 was pretty good but 6.5 is a bad copy of the iPhone, Storm, Pre, and who knows what else. The new Start Menu has staggered icons which are hard on the eyes and there's no way to sort them. The IE is beyond awful and cannot even display mobile sites without horizontal scrolling. I know people haven't liked Pocket IE but at least it was quick and dirty for mobile sites.

Not to mention that 6.5 devices will be abandoned by MS when 7.0 comes out.

I'm jumping ship. I just haven't decided what to get.
It may all be based on 5.0 but 6.1 is so much better than 6.0 which was pretty much the same thing as 5.0.

6.1 added threaded SMS, Filtering Emails and Texts and Playlists. Zooming in Pocket IE for no good reason. So the last one kind of sucks but the others made the my TYTN II usable.

6.5 does looks like the added swishing and swiping just for the sake of it. What's that on the home page? Is that 4 different places to swipe to unlock the phone? What happens where there's an alarm and an appointment reminder as well?

I really don't like what's happening with 6.5.
I agree with you. I can't believe all the negative WinMo comments have been voted down. I didn't know there were so many WinMo fans out there. Usually anything WinMo on Engadgets has 3 comments or less.

I've been using WinMo since the days of the Velo. Everyone I know that tried WinMo gave up with version 5.0 and moved on to Sidekicks or Blackberries at that time. Now most of them have the iPhone. I think 6.1 is pretty good. I wish 5.0 had threaded text messaging and the ability to filter messages. In 5.0 when starting to type in an app, contacts would filter, PIE favorites would scroll down to that letter, and Windows Media would just head back to the top of the playlist. That was really annoying. Even though most of these inconsistencies have been fixed in 6.1, the trouble is the iPhone gave a lot of users a glimpse of how user friendly a smartphone can be. The first one may have been dumbed down and very limited but these days there are tons of apps that can do almost anything if you can find them in the app store.

As Microsoft continues to copy the iPhone with 4 touch buttons on the bottom and swishes and swipes I just wonder when will they get back the app developer support? The only phone I like out there is the Touch Pro 2 but after $300+ and extra memory and a $19 or $29 app or two I feel like I'm getting a much better value with the iPhone at $200 plus some $1 apps.
I'm using a flashed ROM. The original AT&T ROM is a joke.

I wish I could update my Toshiba.
Coexist is code for 6.5 devices will not be upgradable to 7 like 6.1 is not upgradable to 6.5, like 5.0 was not upgradable to 6.0 like 2003 was not upgradable to 5.0.

I still use my Toshiba e805 with WinMo 2003. Technically it coexists with my Tilt but both are going to coexist with the trash once I choose a new phone and it most likely won't be WinMo.
@Toy Yoda.

I had a similar problem with a cop.

In Jersey the speed limit drops about 10mph from RT 1 to RT 18 and I constantly see cars getting pulled over. I had a red sports car and NY plates so I was always mindful around this area.

At around 4pm one day I see lights behind me and speed up a little to get out of the way. Turns out I was being pulled over. The 1st thing the cop says to me is he smells marijuana and asks me to step out of the car. I don't even smoke cigarettes. He searches me and proceeds to search my car and finds nothing. He asks me to open my trunk. As politely as possible I ask him if he needs a warrant to search the trunk and tell him that I don't even smoke cigarettes. I may have told him what he was smelling was the wonderful Jersey air which he laughed at. He didn't search my trunk, went back to his car for a while and came back with an excess speed ticket. He told me that this was less point than if he actually wrote down how fast I was going. He said he clocked @ 60mph but wouldn't show me the gun.

To make a long story short. It was suggested by 2 lawyer friends and everyone else not to mention the search because the judge would assume I just threw the whatever out the window. The officer was a super polite in court. I told the judge that the officer never mentioned why he pulled me over until he came back with a ticket and that I asked to see the radar gun and the officer would not show it to me. I also took pictures of the road @ 4pm and showed the judge photos and told him that it is not possible to speed on RT 18 because there is way too much traffic during that time.

The judge says "are you finished?... Guilty." =)

I have talked my way out of tickets before and after that by being honest with cops and beat a 90 in a 50 by telling the judge "I need my car for my job, otherwise I'd be a burden to society or have to resort to a life of crime."
I also beat an 80 in 25 but I really don't think I was going 80 on that one. I had physics formulas and stuff and affidavits from the DOT. The speed limit is usually 40 in the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel but that night they lowered it to 25 because there was a dog in the tunnel. I asked the judge. "shouldn't the speed limit be 0 if there is a dog in the tunnel?"
I wish. My friend just lost her iPhone two weeks ago. This is NYC. They said they'll find her phone after that solve all the murders. Obviously she didn't have a password on the thing. She promised me she has one on the new one.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
