NHK demonstrates 8K display: 16x more detail than 1080p {Engadget}

Jun 20th 2008 7:36AM Actually, at 6' and a 50" screen the average person can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. Sure 1080p looks better at 3' when you're in best buy and the salesman is trying to tell how much better the 360 line of resolution the the extra $500 it costs will buy you, but put it in your living room and you won't be able to tell the difference. Most likely the difference you will see will be in the electronic of the tv and not its resolution. Just ask CNET. This rush to higher resolution is just a con to sell more TVs. For giant billboards it could have its uses though.

Netflix cops to surveying customers about Xbox 360 rentals {Engadget HD}

Mar 25th 2008 4:08PM No it doesn't make more sense on the PS3. Digital downloads will compete with Blu-Ray. BTW, by far most people won't notice or care about the quality difference and most certainly hardly anyone will care about HD sound support.

I'd sign up in a heart beat for it as well on the XBox.

Acer not developing game console after all {Engadget}

Mar 23rd 2008 10:36AM Why XBox 360 and not PS3? Man the MS hate on this site knows no bounds.

Sony announces BDP-S350, BDP-S550: first new Blu-ray players since the fall of HD DVD {Engadget}

Feb 26th 2008 8:21AM Someone please explain to me why the cheapest BR player is no cheaper than a PS3 at retail stores. Competition my ass. Either the stand alone players are priced artificially high or the PS3s are subsidized to push the technology. Any real competition is gone now that HD-DVD is out of the picture. Don't hold your breath for a stand alone less than $200.

Are "Opus" and "Valhalla" the next, next Xbox 360s? {Engadget}

Feb 15th 2008 5:23PM If the PS3 hardware is so much better for at least playing games, how come none of the games look any better than the 360's? In fact, most of the multiplatform games look better on the 360. Having a monster CPU doesn't necesarily translate to a better gaming system. There's a lot more to it than that.

Netflix coming to Xbox 360 and PS3? {Engadget}

Feb 12th 2008 8:31AM If they put all their older movies including HD in watch now, charge a couple extra dollars a month for the service and let it run on both consoles then they'd make bank. Gone would be the need for Blu-ray. Sony wouldn't allow it though. They've lost enough money trying to push their technology on us. Why aren't stand alone BD players significantly less expensive than a PS3? Gee I wonder...

Official: 16GB iPhone available and 32GB iPod touch -- both $499 {Engadget}

Feb 5th 2008 8:54AM $500 for a PMP? Are some people really that dumb? Oh, I forgot, we're talking about Apple.

Microsoft: Vista has fewer first-year vulnerabilities than any modern OS {Engadget}

Jan 24th 2008 7:58AM If people believe Vista is bad because of shotty journalism and biased blogs then they will believe it's true. If this site would get its nose out of Steve Jobs ass maybe we might have some proper perspective around here.

Samsung exec hints at 4000 x 2000 resolution LCD panels {Engadget HD}

Dec 18th 2007 10:39AM My post was somehow truncated

We've already reached the limit with which our eyes can detect any change in resolution. In fact, 720p should be good enough for normal TV sizes 60 inches and smaller and normal viewing distances. CNET already did a review of 1080p and 720p and found very little noticable difference. 2000 is just silly. More excuses to sell technology.
