I don't like Gizmodo because I can't catch tech news without having a little web porn thrown in. I want news, not internet garbage.
Regardless, I don't think there is anything wrong with a site asking it's readers to vote. There not asking for your money, if you read Engadget on the regular, just click the link and cast a vote.
All this garbage about "i would vote if engadget didn't spam the news" etc is simply that, Garbage. Do us all a favor. Don't vote, don't read this blog, and don't comment here.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot.
