Windows 7 Media Center review {Engadget HD}

Jul 28th 2009 1:53AM Hi ! I'm looking to get the best out of my TV and huge channel lineups.. My question is: what's the best Media Center solution out there.. ? I'm stuck right now with a crappy 10 year old looking cable SD digital tuner.. I'd like to be able to Record, and browse live tv on a more evolved system and more aesthetically pleasing operating system..

Thanks ;)

Next iPhone to launch July 17 with OLED display and glowing Apple logo? {Engadget}

May 19th 2009 9:30PM Isn't it Sad to see people already arguing about something not even official - some are either bashing apple for stupid decisions or applauding them for adding something.. ridiculous. my comment is just sharing what I would like to have in my iPhone 4G, let's call it the iPhone HD.

My perfect phone (maybe not yours, but perfect for me) is an iPhone, with a full/flush screen on the top.. no buttons, just a screen. a nice high resolution screen. it would have 32Gb of space, lots of ram, a 3.2 or 5MP camera with a glass autofocus lens that can shoot 30fps @ 720p video, without lags or distortions (h264). It could even be a bit larger for better battery life and bigger screen.. I'd like the back to be as resistant as the front of it also...

of course it would also do Push, MMS, Background Apping, would cure cancer and would smell like apple pie.

That's my wishlist...

32GB laptop SSD for less than $100: caveat emptor {Engadget}

Velocity Mobile's WinMo-powered 103 handset splashes down in FCC's database {Engadget}

Jul 19th 2008 8:25PM optical zoom wouldn't necessarily help. the two dumbest things to look for in any sort of camera is the Megapixel # and the Optical Zoom X. Companies keep marketing those two things (along with screen size) because no one knows anything about cameras, they just look at the big numbers... oohhh 12MP, 20X optical.. and look it's shiny !!!!! jesus.

What everyone would need and benefit from is having a large quality lens, to be able to absorb as much light to create a crisp, colorful image (generally larger lens diameter = better). No consumer really needs anything over 6MP anyways (that's an 8x10 at 300dpi), most people would benefit more from having a wide angle lens as opposed to a longer telephoto range.

so what i would like to see is Nokia coming out with an N97 32GB, featuring a 4MP camera with a good quality photo lens, that shoots true 720p video, not choppy, dark. and to have a 24mm equivalent wide angle. I always use my cell phone as a quick capture of things happening around me. not 100s of yards away. it's cute simple souvenirs of me going someplace.. me in he photo or friends.. that's a cell phone. I'd also like to see Apple do this. (i have both the N95 and iPhone 3G both driving me nuts with their potencial but each missing the mark equally.. but in different ways.)

iPhone 3G and firmware 2.0: one week later {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2008 12:29AM I've had the phone working since Friday 1PM. (didn't have any issues getting it activated by iTunes, just plugged it in, accessed and started uploading contacts, email accounts and music). I have loved my first week, I downloaded i think about 20 apps, some free - some paid. I loaded 4Gb of music, 2Gb of video. I tried pretty much every function of the iPhone.. And i didn't get a single problem. Maybe it's luck, or maybe it's just not using the phone to create problems (opening and closing while in the middle of an operation several applications) and turning it off every 2 days or so, just to make sure it's reset.

I have loved the battery life, the functions, the screen and how responsive and intuitive it is. I played Poker while waiting for my girlfriend to get her nails done.. watched a few tv shows.. it's just a sweet phone. I used to have the N95 8GB, which in my opinion is stille the best phone I have ever had feature wise, but the UI kept stopping me from using all those features.. the iPhone, by the way it's set up makes you want to use it and play with it..

I have hated not having a video camera, not having a decent photo camera with flash and not being able to MMS.

i have loved my first week as an iPhone user.. i am once again sold.

Sony extends Xross Media Bar UI to Vaio FW laptops {Engadget}

Jul 17th 2008 11:23PM I actually like the Sony look.. simple, quick and to the point.. i hate over the top, over produced, get in the way UIs.... Sony has the little wave thing in the background.. very calming, very modern.. love this.

The BlackBerry Bold hits the FCC, gets one step closer to your pocket {Engadget}

Jul 10th 2008 2:02PM that is beside the point... john mayer has had one for the past month or so.. everyone has seen it.. the point they are making is that it's one step closer to being officially released and potentially bought by you, me...

even though this week is the unofficial iphone extravaganza.. ;)

Nokia: leaks cause us major problems. Us: so get your act together. {Engadget}

Jun 20th 2008 11:44PM I think Nokia is relevant, they make great cheap phones. For people who just want the cellphone to do phonecalls, they also make them for third world countries... they are very strong in that market.

As for innovation, product leaks and hottest phones... I think Nokia is the only one pushing the hardware forward. yes others have gone with the form factor/software route... Nokia has gone 'let's pack as much stuff as we can' approach. Granted their UI sucks, they should seriously work on that But the N95 8gb and N96 are solid products. They have the best optics, the best sound/loudspeaker I have tried, they have pretty much all the features...

I love Apple, I love Sony, I love Nokia. I have owned and used all three. I think they all have different approaches, agendas and markets. Apple is flashier, smoother and software wise, so far, are unbeaten. Sony are really becoming inventive, thinking outside the box, love the Xperia. Nokia you've heard my thoughts..

So yes, they are relevant in 2008. And yes, they should use the leaks to better focus and enhance their phones. And I do believe they should use the apple way of trying to misinform the press, send out fake leaks, but still sending bits of real info... it keeps you in the press, keeps people from forgetting your upcoming product.. it's basic marketing.
