More Movies to Video Games {Cinematical}

Dec 29th 2005 11:21AM There are nice tie-ins sometimes, but the gaming companies understand that they doesn't have to make a good game from a movie if they want to make more money -- all they need to do is slap the brand and the characters' faces on some shitty engine and viola -- cash cow.

V for Vendetta: Will its politics hurt its box office? {Cinematical}

Dec 28th 2005 5:00PM Natalie Portman sucks, is the problem. Can't act, not attractive. Booo.

Dec 27th 2005 10:09AM How are you supposed to submit a proof of purchase if you got it as a gift?

Letterman Hit with Restraining Order {Cinematical}

Dec 24th 2005 7:06PM That is one big load of crazy she's got there. Despite a complete lack of direct communication from Dave to her, she picked out random words and thought they were directed at her? Wow. She is CRA-ZY.

Schwarzenegger pisses off everyone in Austria {Cinematical}

Dec 15th 2005 10:14AM That's crap. The Governator was in the right, and don't let my overly anti-death penalty compatriots tell you otherwise. There is a lot of evidence pointing to Tookie not being quite so redeemed as he -- and the media -- made him out to be. My blood may run liberal blue and Ahnold may be a dirty rotten Republican, but this dude was guilty through and through, and never admitted it. So fuck Austria.

Ryan Reynolds loves Beer {Cinematical}

Dec 13th 2005 10:54AM I am just so happy right now.

More Harold and Kumar {Cinematical}

Dec 9th 2005 4:41PM Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle: best movie ever? Yes.

Lost: What Kate Did {TV Squad}

Dec 1st 2005 2:57PM "Don't mistake coincidence for fate" doesn't make sense. It ought to be "don't mistake fate for coincidence", because Locke was definitely like, well, this is one hell of a coincidence. Eko strikes me as one who would believe in fate rather than coincidence, so I feel that was a slip of the tongue or a mistake in writing.

Aeon Flux - no reviews, no pullquotes, and certainly no tomatoes {Cinematical}

Nov 29th 2005 4:05PM Andrew's Official Unofficial Review of the Aeon Flux Trailer: Charlize Theron does not look like she could kick anyone's ass. She looks like she'd need help making a cup of tea, much less blowing things up and beating people up. While all sci-fi movies are obviously a very elaborate fakery, the good ones do it convincingly. To be convincing, you need to start with actors that look the part and act the part. She doesn't. It's like that girl from Firefly/Serenity. Damn, she was terrible.

Jim Carrey Just Won't Go Away {Cinematical}

Nov 29th 2005 3:55PM He did ridiculous funny with Ace Ventura and The Mask, insane semi-drama with The Cable Guy (a mediocre movie, but the acting was, I think, perfectly over the top), he seems to be doing more witty humor in the new movie with Leoni, he's done humorous/serious as Kaufman in The Man on the Moon, and he pulled off serious acting in ESSM (from what I hear -- I didn't see that one). I thought he was great in The Truman Show -- if you put the logistics of it out of your head, he made it seem plausible. To me it sounds like he actually has some tremendous range as an actor. As a comedian he's a master of facial expressions (yes, Keanu Reeves. I'm looking at you), physical humor, sarcastic humor, understated humor. He gets the short end of the stick because he's known for Ace Ventura primarily. Granted, it's idiotic humor and it's very childish humor, but it's funny nonetheless. But I guess that since I like Jim Carrey, I'm just "not all that intelligent", is that right? Clearly, Mark, you're right there at the top of the gene pool with everyone else who thinks to dictate other people's tastes for them. But, hey, who am I to say anything? I'm so dumb, I don't even like Harry Potter. I guess the deep underlying philosophy, the original storylines, and the creative, articulate writing is just too overwhelming for me. Oh, wait, it doesn't have any of that. Maybe I just need your intellect to understand it.
