$5,000 Dior phone: so upscale it doesn't require specs {Engadget}
May 21st 2008 4:38AM It's a bargain!!! How many people jumped on the Vertu bandwagon at >15k$ which in fact was mnf'd by Nokia? And then always casting an eye on someone's new toys and self-convincing that it was still worthwhile...
Designwise it seems about only ok. The mini phone extender is not so novel but a good Btooth earpiece can be convenient... although then you wouldn't be showing off your phone
Vodafone releasing iPhone in Australia, Italy, India, and seven other countries {Engadget}
May 6th 2008 8:34AM Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Switzerland.... the list can go on... all with great 3G coverage and high population density. The market of providers is so fragmented that the EU government needs to look into anti-consumer behavior and force an overall law (as in France) to provide unlocked phones all across EU. The opposite: buy an Iphone in France, drive 2 hours and be continuosly charged international roaming charges in neigbouring countries. It isn't limited to EU as also Russia, China, India to name only a few ?minor? markets are all wanting unlocked phones. If nothing else, LONG LIVE JAILBREAK! Unless... may it be, Apple, that you do come around and sell unlocked phones, even at a premium!
HTC Touch Diamond shots and specs: this week's big announcement? {Engadget}
May 3rd 2008 11:17PM HTC, what is with sticking to the me-too 2.8inch screen? Lower mfg. & re-tooling cost? Hopefully the Raphael will get a larger +1inch screen & key board. It seems no-one is willing to make the jump yet to a UMPC-pocket size tool and be a leader.
Nokia outs HSDPA 5320 and 5220 XpressMusic candybars, wake us when it's the Tube {Engadget}
Apr 22nd 2008 4:57AM Long live competition. If the 3G Iphone gets sold unlocked (even if only everywhere except for US & AT&T country) it will provoke much more than a 1% drop in Nokia's market share. Even the N95 falls short as an attempt for being an inventive or daring product. Being defensive is not sufficient facing companies like Samsung & LG. Perhaps Nokia has been watching too much the Motorola's of the world.
Apple COO says it's not married to iPhone exclusivity, still on track to sell 10m this year {Engadget}
Feb 28th 2008 4:56AM Apple, 20 million phones is easy to sell, just stop the silly 'locking'... living in Belgium, Holland for example, if one buys a phone in Germany or France, only a few 100 miles away, one would pay continously roaming charges... the united EU doesn't exist for that matter. In China, India, people want the Iphone... if not available, people will look for alternatives. The best selling phone in China is Nokia... these are unlocked... what is it that you do not understand to get 5% on a conservative number of 2B people. Or, Cupertino, did you make anti-competition deals with other brands to leave them in peace?

thats an agreement :-) Reacting to 911 was more than right and there was worldwide support for going into Afganistan. Today, these Taliban keep popping up and that bunch of terrorists should have been contained and rooted out completely. A handfull of hardliners played games on its own people and dressed up the Irak circus as many things but not 911. Sadam could have been eliminated in a far more effective way. Instead Irak has turned into terrorist proving ground and export base, overall spreading military too thin. Btw, I liked the Super bowl, watched it early in our morning. There is many people in the world, incl. in China, Russia, that like US & hopefully the next government, whoever gets elected, does a better job at unifying and international relations.

Point well taken. Been in military and been living with terrorist threats decades ahead of 911.
My aim was the narrow mindedness of China and Russia bashers on the bravado of the satellite destruction as it sounds so much the same as the righteousness on the Irak disaster. ‘Thank God’ for the military... I believe in praying to protect but would rather be humbly quiet in addressing Him on war. A bunch of idiots knowingly misinform(s)ed their own people and manipulated the military. More safe? Instead of concentrating forces on stamping out the root cause in Afghanistan once and for all, there are more terrorists in Irak than ever before. It created even a blue print with terrorism support and tactics spreading in Africa and SE Asia. What has happened, is history, just hope man learns from it.

Feb 21st 2008 10:04PM At least somewhere, someone must feel proud. Reading some comments: 'take this China, do that Russia... must come from some of the tax payers contributing to this oh so incredible exploit: more than 6 months preparation & perfect knowledge on timing and trajectory, more than 100's of experts tied up and luckily the weather held up to execute this one single event. What is so great about this? Is this making it easier to clean up the Afganistan & Irak mess? Get off your Island and look around in the world. There is no interest in getting into "mine is longer than yours..." except for a few lunatics.
The Nokia N96 redefines "high-end" {Engadget}
Feb 11th 2008 8:16AM No cigar... I want an international business phone and the N95 nor N96 are it. Want large screen (min. 3.2"), easy key input, full access to mail and attachments. No need for games, but that is just me. Nokia E90 isn't bad, but the front seems like an afterthought.
