Well, me, I tested quite a lot of phones(nokia, samsung, sony ericson), PDA (psion, zaurus) and smartphones (blackberries, HTCs), along with the iPhone V1. And I can tell you that the iPhone kick the ass of all the phones and "smartphone" !!
Blackberry are far superior to Windows Mobile devices, that for sure, but when you want to listen to music and watch video on the same device as the one you write note on, record vocal notes, write email and SMS, the iPhone is vastly superior
And damn, synching a blackberry with a computer is HELL!...
Anyway, I like the blackberries over the iPhone for ONE thing, it's the hardware keyboard... it's especially useful for shortcuts, and you type in a way more flexible (I type fast on the iPhone, but when you want to write in a weird way, it just doesn't work lol).
But overall, I find the iPhone virtual keyboard more attractive just for typing. None to mention the screen is far biger ;)
The device is still young though (didn't test the 2.0.1 OS), and some things need to change, but really for me the other devices are not half as close to what I want.
And with the AppStore, good things just get better!
I can't wait to get my hand on the 3G :P
Just a question though... will we have to take an AT&T plan in order to leave with the iPhone (like it's supposed to be in the Apple Stores an AT&T stores), or can we just buy it and then take a plan in AT&T stores (or not) like it used to be with the iPhone V1?
I live in France and I can buy the iPhone in France, but the price is not the same AT ALL (599€ Vs 299$ for the 16GB...3x the price!), and I would have to leave my current operator, thing I don't want either....
Well must seems odd but actually the Hava doesn't really interest me so much (but I wouldn't refuse a gift :P)... much more interested in the Microsoft Webcam :)
And yeah, it's compatible with Mac OS X :P
Well, I saw this, but still not very useful... I mean... well ok this have 2 screen, but one is tiny, the other is not especially big... and overall, the phone is big and bulky... Look like a bad copy of nokia navigators.... (but well ok, navigators cost 5 times the price).
I think the HTC design is far more effective. 1 big screen, virtual touch screen for numbers, and you can bring the full keyboard when you need...

Still both have awful OS on it, for me it's really important, so I go for Blackberry anyway :P
Is it my eyes, or the phone seems huge compare to the screen?
Is it a 1" screen? :P
Well, it's certainly look like a 1998 military phone... maybe retro people will like it :P
Oblivion!
The Elder Scrolls rocks ^_^
I never played it on XBox though... wich I had!
Just thinking about something... if they had a lot of valid IMEI number, maybe it allow them to crack the unlock codes with it?
I mean, I know you can make CD key generator from a bunch of CD key... I dono how IMEI and unlock code works, but it's probably possible... it's probably a matter of how much IMEI they need...
well, just a guess...
They were not talking about saudi arabian, but about the Saudi Royal Familly ;)
And nothing bad, just that they got a lot of money and would probably pay a lot to use the iPhone anywhere else than in the US...
The thing is, they probably don't care paying the AT&T fees :P
Thanks for the clarification ;)
But what about unlocking it to use it in foreign country? :P
I don't think you know anything about Mac. Did you even read all the previous post?
For compatibility, go for PC? Haha, what a joke... Mac OS X is already compatible with pretty much anything from windows world, but now we can run Windows on a Mac, it's totaly the opposite: for compatibility, go Mac! They are the only computers that can run any now a days OS... Mac OS X, Windows XP, Vista, Linux, Solaris...

The only bad thing about Mac Laptop, is not the price or the compatibility, just the customability... I must say Dell ones are far more customisable... can choose the resolution, the graphic card, etc., whatever the model you choose. On a macbook, you don't have such option... that's probably what make it as affordable as a equivalent Dell... with much more style and built quality! ...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
