Last year's Black Friday was really upsetting to me, and I think this is the best time to talk about why.

I had read online that RadioShack was running a deal on DualShock 3 controllers. Only $30. I hate how they retail for like $55 so this was a big deal to me. As soon as I had a chance, I called my local Radioshacks and asked if they had any DS3s left.

Whether or not they took the time to check, all of them reported back that they were out of stock.
Believe it or not, this was my first real experience of how stupid Black Friday can be. I don't like leaving my house often so I don't see the flocking masses for myself but regardless I was still pretty pissed about how fast stuff sells out on that day.

So here I am now. I'm poor as hell and I've still got this normal Sixaxis. Buying a DS3 isn't really an option for me. Not to exaggerate things though, a Dualshock is not necessary and not a huge difference ultimately. I've got a controller and I can play my games. But I definitely wouldn't mind the full experience.
I sure as hell couldn't keep up with her on the dance floor....
It's very good that Sony got this one out. Holding the power button instead of using the switch on the back could save your laser from death, at least with some of the older phat models.
At least they fixed the friend's list. I'm happy. This firmware will probably be out within 24 hours, knowing Sony.
Hah, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence was something like 42 minutes. But I don't know if that's even considered one song, since it has like 8 parts or whatever.
A lot of us share the opinion that DT's best work can be found on Images & Words. Pull Me Under is great and it even got MTV exposure so a lot of people know that song, but there was also Metropolis Pt.1, Another Day, Surrounded, and Take the Time (my personal favorite of any DT song). Giving any of them an intimate listening helps to shed some light on how accomplished that collection was.The whole album is gold and arguably one of the best prog metal releases ever.
I dont have many holiday gaming memories, admittedly. I rarely receive games anymore, probably because my mom thinks I'm too old for those and should be focusing on school. But I do remember when all the kids on my block got our N64's. All on the same Christmas. Man we wanted that thing bad.... and sure enough we all got it.
Except one kid.
His mom was strongly opposed to video games completely. Since we all got our consoles, we each had at least one controller, and with a little push from my parents, I brought my N64 over to his house and let him play Super Mario 64. I was kinda pissed because I had been hyping over that game for months and now I had it, only to find myself unable to play it. Within a couple hours, the other kids came over and brought their consoles/controllers and games! It was amazing... We didn't think to use more than one console but someone brought Mario Party 2 and holy crap it was a blast. Thinking about it, this is definitely my best holiday memory, period. Which might be sad since it wasn't shared with family. But hey.... your bros are sometimes all the family you need.
Yep, I've never heard hateful language exchanged either, through playing BF:BC, LBP, or even Killzone 2.

Now I have heard quite a bit of cussing like "Goddamit!!", the occasional rapper, and a lot of background music especially in KZ2 which allows for custom soundtracks. Overall though my experiences have been positive.
Nice.... I just wish we'd get a Dead or Alive game for PS3 already.
i didnt know until after the kanye ordeal either
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
