I'd buy a Wi-Ex Yx 510 instead. Oh, wait, i already did!

A year ago it cost me $282 at amazon. They were selling them for 200 at macworld san fran last year, see if they're there again with bargains next february if you want one.

I hung the antenna in the attic, ran coax to a 2nd floor landing, and it's flooded my house with signal. Result: from my iPhone being genuinely unusable in the house, to averaging 4 bars and virtually no dropped calls. All the difference in the world, with no monthly fees. Shortly before a year was up the signal degraded and wi-ex replaced the unit, and the powerful flood of signal returned.

Now--should i have had to buy that so solve the problem? I don't think so. But it was worth it to me to have the phone work properly.
what about BT? Seems like lots of cars that don't have factory Nav also lack BT. One of the nice things about some of the major-brand nav systems is that they incorporate BT. At least, that's my understanding. Personally, I want someone to bring out a combined nav/BT/satellite radio unit.
yeah, it's like the way some of those darned car makers started producing vehicles with automatic transmissions and electric starters. Just doing things the hard way, to be different.
before apple fanbois start finding fault, i'm one, and this is a pretty nice product spec-wise. The creative designs are an inexpensive way to liven up something that'll often be on display on a desktop. Apple's almost become the old MS gray-box manufacturer these days, since it gave up on the colorful iMacs. Only the iPods have any differentiation by color. More important, the company's let others get ahead on the fone front (or is it phone phront?) with features like the free navigation app and the desktop- and car-docks with added functionality. Those features DO add to the usefulness of the products. I'd like to see apple get a little more adventurous with its offerings--give us something some people hate and others love, for ex. And push the feature box some, especially with stuff that could be offered at an additional price or offered by third party vendors. Is anyone else feeling this?
don't kid yourself. my last IT manager at my company was a woman in her 50s, sharp as a tack. You wouldn't make a crack like that about someone in the line because of their skin color (at least i hope you wouldn't).

I'm 63 and while i'm sure a lot of you kiddos are ahead of me in some tech aspects, i skype, used the iPhone app Tube to navigate London's underground last week, edit in photoshop, created my website with BBEdit, enjoy video iChats with family and friends around the US--and yes, even do regular backups! (No, you won't find me gaming on my mac or iPhone.) I got a little frustrated with your post, for taking a cheap shot at someone because of her age. I think we all enjoy taking cheap shots for the sake of some laughs. I'd have to plead guilty of that myself, sometimes. But maybe doing so makes US look silly rather than the people we're poking at.

I'm just sayin'...
well, maybe he's on to something with that apple fanboy/religious fundamentalist observation.

We do, after all, all meet on saturday mornings and go door-to-door proselytizing. Haven't you gotten the knock on the door, and the iPhone pamphlets?
i thought android was an overarching system that allowed individual manufacturers to sort of pick and choose how they implemented the functionality. Not so?
you'll like it so much you'll want to take it to bed...
yeah, is your name really Dan? Or is that a typo too? Don? Dawn? c'mon, fess up.
maybe the author you're complaining about had a similar problem.

at least you didn't post the same thing twice.

oh. never mind.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
