No, you're right it isn't. but it certainly doesn't account for a price hike of 110% over the US. CUstoms duty is usually between 5 and 9%, it can be considerably more or less but as usual specific information is very hard to come by.

So, assuming $20 shipping per unit, $34.35 VAT, $20.61 customs and the $10 extra the 320GB HDD costs we're still being overcharged by around $180 for the base unit.
110%, not 100%.

Also going to complain at the lack of an edit button on here, again.
So Dell, why exactly is this 100% more expensive in the UK than the US? ($229 vs $495) for basically the same spec, the only difference being a 250GB HDD vs. 320GB.

Last time I checked our VAT was 15% and even on the normal scale of us getting a little ripped off another 95% on top of that seems a little excessive.
Well considering it has the lens built in and not removable no, I imagine it wouldn't be much good without it.
Depends on the model, those with the n270 can use 1066mhz or faster (will run at 1066mhz) whereas the n280 requires 1333mhz+.
It's also a teardown whereas your post will be voted down.
Cost, very few people would be willing to pay the extra for the larger capacity. The smaller quantity being sold would in turn make it even more expesnive.
It's a play on words.
Normally I would agree, but if you use the HE discount the 13" MBP comes out at £18 less than than the equivilent Dell Studeio XPS 13, admittedly specs are a little worse (160gb vs 250gb & 2.23ghz vs 2.4ghz) but it has better build quality and a superior battery life.

Not to mention they throw in an iPod Touch right now as well.
And I forgot to mention, about 8% smaller than the N96 while have a much larger screen.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
