Jan 22nd 2008 11:34AM I'm a little surprised. Sure, there are great health benefits to getting people to go outside, and sure, the money is great. But speaking strictly in terms of preservation and conservation -- isn't it easier on the land to have LESS people using the land (and inevitably leaving their garbage in the process) than to have more? I don't see how getting people to hop in their SUVs and drive all over our national parks, etc. is going to further the Sierra Club's conservation goals.

Dec 19th 2007 11:08AM I have Ubuntu 7.04 on my laptop, and Vista on my desktop -- each for about 6 months. As delighted I am with Ubuntu, I have to admit it has locked up a few times requiring a reboot. Though the stray program has stopped responding once or twice on Vista, I've never had it completely lock up, and it has never required a reboot in the six months I've been using it. Of course -- I paid a lot more for Vista than Ubuntu. (understatement)

Vista is not perfect. But it is pretty good. Much better than people give it credit for.

If you want to get nit-picky, nearly every game is derivative in some sense. Even the "ground-breaking" games are really only variations on a theme.

Dell XPS M1730 review roundup {Engadget}

Dec 11th 2007 11:26AM AlexP,

Way to perpetuate the stereotypes about Mac users knowing nothing about computers. For mac users, it's all about slick advertising and shiny cases. They have no idea what actually makes a computer work.

FYI, the world where your iMac will run Crysis is a world that exists only in your fevered mind. First you are going to need Direct X, and to get that on your Mac, you are going to have "deal with Vista" or XP.

And even if you overcame that obstacle, the iMac is like a golf cart. Good for puttering around the internet, but certainly no match for Crysis.

But hey, at least a lot of people thinks it looks nice. And as a Mac user, that's the key thing, right?
