Something else: Sony BDP-N460
I thought the same thing. That's actually the position I'd take if any of the telecom giants were to buy it. I've been a customer now for more than 10 years, and I'd jump to Dish or Charter in a minute.

Ceton's CableCard solution being on the horizon would only make the decision easier.
I like speakers, tee hee hee, and these sure look good to me.
@ John
And Sony got their wish: I just replaced my launch PS2 with a new PS2. Bought a 360 too. Don't need a Blu-ray player, but do need Fallout 3 (with DLC) and access to my old games (Champions of Norrath, Tony Hawk series, and others).
Further delay of this box will do more harm than good. I'm on my second DirecTv Tivo box (Samsung SIR-S4040R) and I still love it. I've been waiting for an HD version to be released, but now I think I'll pass. Two reasons:

1. The availability of shows online. Only non-network shows I watch are on FX, and therefore are generally available on Hulu with a 1 week delay. I've got a PC with Media Center, 2 HD tuners, an OTA antenna, and an Xbox. I'll be ok with the network shows in HD.

2. DirecTv's move to "lease only" equipment. So I can't walk into a store and buy a receiver, I have to rent one from them (indefinitely) and either return it to them or pay a ridiculous fee at termination. I bought my first unit discounted with contract, it took a lightning strike and I replaced it via Ebay for $40 (plus DirecTv's $50 in fees for access cards and equipment change).
Want these very much:

Fix the economy by forgiving all student loans. I'd be rich!
Favorite post: Ben Heck "How to spot a Jasper".
Waive all current student loan debt!
To fix the economy: forgive all outstanding student loans. That'd free up tons of cash for me, which I would spend on things I don't need.
Or maybe, just maybe, they're contrasting the Sony event with the Nintendo event earlier today....where there were numerous pictures of smiling old people.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I want a 13-incher. I need something with a great keyboard for typing, as this will mostly be used for note taking in class. I am absolutely smitten with the XPS 13, but I'm afraid that with its age Dell is going to give it an update soon. Any advice for someone in my shoes?"
