I used to be so jealous of American cell phone customers, and hated Rogers.
Now it's the other way around.

MMS and tethering have been working for me since 3.0 Beta 1 came out.

-Riordan in Canada on Rogers
Anybody install RC1 on the nastiness that is the Vaio P? I'm hoping to hear some stories about RC1 before I install it on my little box of buyer's remorse.
Wow. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually think I LOVE my Rogers data plan now.
When this thing was first announced, I was looking forward to it more than any other product release I've ever seen.
Gradually, that enthusiasm has trickled down to nothing. First they announce that it wouldn't be an international all-band phone, and that UMTS 850 (and no 900) would be only in the North American release and that UMTS 900 (and no 850) would only be in the international release.
THEN they announced that the North American version will capture video at only 320x240 and at 24 (I think?) fps, and the international version would remain at 640x480 @ 30 fps. So then it was a toss up: UMTS 850, or better video?
Then the delays, and the Windows issues... and now this.

So, as much as I hate to say this, I have lost all interest. I'm kind of glad I went with my iPhone 3G, now. Never thought I'd be admitting to that.
Haha, guess who is in Canada, and is psychotically pounding the "continue" button on his order!
"Checkout (Our Systems are experiencing heavy volumes. Please resubmit the order after a short time.)"

It was worth a try, no?
I'd rather see the 6-band (700, 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100) UMTS if I'm going to drop money on something like that. Not that 700 is even used for UMTS yet.

Seems like a big crazy dream to me, though. Even the near amazing Sony Ericsoon decided to totally screw up the potential awesomeness that was the Xperia X1, by making one model with 850/1700/1900/2100, and another with 900/1700/1900/2100, and of course, the 850 one had to (very randomly) feature lower quality video recording than the 900 one.

WHY DOES IT SEEM LIKE EVERY DEVICE THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE PERFECT GETS SHAT ON BY THE DEVELOPERS? ARGH!
I am so all over this. Here in Canada on Rogers (i.e., GSM), the best deal we have involving data is $65 (current conversion is $63.90 USD) per month MINIMUM for just 1GB of data and nothing else (i.e., NO airtime, NO texts; JUST the data). And that's just for PC cards. If you want it on a device, the next best deal is $100 for 1GB, and that's only good for use on a Windows Mobile Device.

Don't forget the system access fees!

I am so in love with this.
Seriously.
So much.
Jealous jealous jealous.
This excites me like you couldn't possibly imagine.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
