Silver,

There is no succeeding for these 3. When word broke out back in October that they were halting plants Toyota stopped the freight coming to America, turned it around and returned to port in order to fill it up to 100% capacity. The problem is, the big 3, are old time conservative 'big car, fast, guzzler' and that was fine... 25 years ago. The market shifted a bit from, super fast v8's with 5-15 mpg to v4's, hybrids, 40+ mpg. Who was the first to answer to the changing market? The pruis and insight were released in the late 90s, when did one of the big 3 have a car that was competitive with them?

So ask yourself this: Do you want to see GM, Ford and Chrysler fail and cause job losses for many or do you want to see GM, Ford and Chrysler fail, cause job losses for many AND cost taxpayers 30 billion plus on top of that? I prefer the lesser.
Im pretty sure i read in pcworld that these chips would make ram unnecessary to even have.
I think we could definitely make electric or hydrogen cars work if we had to. Like, if gas spiked to $25 a gallon and then ended up stabilizing at $15 then we would probably see some alternative fuel cars within 5 years that were practical. Like penguin and others have said, oil is just too cheap, too easy, too convenient and there is no reason to stop using it. For the average American to go out and buy a $60k electric car doesn't make sense. $60,000 buys 15,000 gallons of gas at $4 per gallon (more expensive than it actually costs now) and in my cavalier z24 that nets me approx. 375,000 miles of use. Even for my mother, who drives over 100k miles per year due to her job that would still be at least 3 years of gas paid for. For myself, which i only drive maybe 20k a year that would last me almost 19 years at my current rate. The point is, as others have said, gas is cheap, gas is cheap, gas is cheap and people of a free world do not spend extra money when a cheaper alternative is available.
This can't disprove any religious beliefs because nothing can. Its impossible to prove that something does not exist, you can only prove that things do exist. i.e. a ghost, if i see one thats proof that it does exist but if i never see one that just means i never saw one; not that it does not exist. So religion will continue to evade taxes.... They really did think it through when they made it up so i gotta give em some credit, lol.
For all the people opposing this,

How might you feel if this collision leads scientists to figure out how to use particle accelerators to produce power for the entire planet? I think its worth risking everyones lives. Were all dead men anyways.
The only problem i have ever seen with wind is the fact that if you go outside there is not always wind blowing. The majority of people will not spend thousands of dollars on a product that only starts saving them money in 10 years. They would instead invest in better light bulbs and better habits because the money saved can be seen in the next bill or by the first year. I think products like this and solar cells need to get a lot cheaper before it can be used by the vast majority and really lower our electric bills. If only a solar roof with wind turbines was ready for mass market consumption.
How long before this enters the civilian population? Will we still say land of the free when the man knows where and what we are doing at all times?
what the %#^& does the external look of the car matter? You need to go back to grade school if thats more important than the fact that this could cause the average commuter to save thousands per year. If you say: man...it looks too gay for me to drive it so ima stick with my SUV; then you need to be castrated and thrown in a deep river with your feet in a cement bucket.

I would have NO problem driving a hot pink car or one that said "i support terrorism" if i was getting just under 200 miles per gallon of WATER.
Can: How is it a fair market if intel can make their price whatever they want? If they have 80% market share and 500 billion more than amd then you could see this happen. Amd comes out with a new chip, comparable with intel's new chip. The catch is, intel has the capital to sell their product for $20 and lose $180 on every chip because they have 80% market share and 500 billion extra. Amd can't afford it because they have much less capital to lose on each chip sold.

Thats not "good marketing" at all. If you don't stop this then no one can compete with intel and then the advancement of the processor halts.
Alexander, Why don't we just let the government install security cameras in all our rooms in all our houses, even in the toilet. Have every word we speak, even while sleeping, be heard by the government. Everything we think about, they know. Wouldn't that be good because then the guy behind you would have been caught long before. Ever heard of Ben Franklin? He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
