I'm now on my 9th or 10th Pre - I've actually lost count. I returned the first one because something was wrong with the battery. It only lasted about an hour, but later I learned that the multitasking was killing it. The second one went back because of poor build quality - the keys on the keyboard were way to close together making typing impossible. The third one went back because I couldn't get it to sync my contacts through iTunes. The fourth went back because I couldn't access more than about 50 apps for purchase in the store. I returned the fifth because I sliced my thumb on the plastic edge -- this must have been a manufacturing defect, but I must admit the other ones since seem just as sharp. The sixth went back because it was rounding off the corners of my photos and movies. The seventh went back because it got real hot when I left it in the car all day -- I think it was retrieving too much hotmail. The eight and ninth went back because by this time I had put Pre returns into my daily routine. I returned the tenth Pre because let's face it, it is no iPhone. I'm now trying to find which of the fifty states will allow me to marry my iPhone 3GS.
They're not even out and already they're giving them away? Sheesh.
Why no balls to actually say "Apple" and "Jobs"? They said "Old Navy" and "Microsoft". They should be protected under the the use of parody.
Even the case looks generic -- like one of those you get from the dollar store.
I was about ready to exclaim that those photos were fake, but then I remembered that the G1 actually looks that crappy.
The menu looks like it could have been handled under DOS. Couldn't they have at least given us some pretty icons representing the different functions? Positively boring!
In case you forget it is a watch and you can take it with you, "Watch" and "Mobile" are stamped right on the face!
Sucks when you have to break out a Torx-15 wrench and case-cracker when you're holding the last sheet off the roll and not finished "taking care of business"
Funny. I just downloaded the iPhone SDK and it didn't cost me $99. $99 is only if you decide to distribute your apps through Apple.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
