It's quite relevant, as 3rd party apps was only one of many reasons to Jailbreak. Filesystem access, more control of running processes are just two. Not to mention the ability to run apps that didn't make the App Store's TOS, some for bullshit reasons. So yes, I believe it's still relevant to get full control of a device I paid for. Thanks Dev Team.
Same here. Center city Phila., 10:15am, voice and SMS works, no internet. 75% signal, 3G icon appearing... just no connectivity.
Just because they weren't activated doesn't mean they're in use in the US jailbroken. It means many many of them were jailbroken and unlocked en masse for sale and use overseas. Here in Philadelphia, for blocks and blocks on Washington Ave, there are small cellphone dealers who were buying up iPhones in bulk and unlocking them for sale.

This is what primarily forced Apple into the two-per-customer and credit-only sales rules.
@eminem213486 -very true.

I also wonder if there isn't an AT command that can pull the GPS data out of the baseband, as I bet there actually *is* an e911-use-only GPS in the GSM module.

Has anyone had to call 911 with an iPhone yet? Did the dispatcher mysteriously know exactly where you were after a few seconds?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
