Its always the same in the UK we do (seem) to pay a lot more for everything. Most of which seems to go on tax. Theres a good article there for you Engadget, find out the prices of major gadgets in various countries and why there are price anomalies. I for one brought an iPhone from the US. I got it for £200 plus £45 shipping. I did this ages before it came out in the UK, so I got it for a combined cost of £245 which is cheaper than the £269 you can buy it for on a UK high street now.
Also with the iTunes ive got an English and an American account, I buy most of my music on the American one as its so much cheaper...oh and you have way better TV shows! Im sure were probably not the most expensive country in the world for gadgets, but it does seem that way sometimes. Whats it like elsewhere?
Did I not see pictures ages ago of prezzy bush with an ipod? Whats the chances those tracks on there are ripped from a CD, if so, can someone sue him? I think that would be best RIAA vs Bush...the smackdown to find the most evil!!!!!
Can I just say, as an Englishman, those title cards where obviously written by what we call "a pikey, chavey b'stard" Words like 'doddle' and 'tasty' and 'plonked" are normally utterances heard from 14 year olds drinking white lightning cider and wearing tracksuit bottoms and thinking of ways of mugging me of my iPhone!

To my American cousins I apologize for this foul mouthed yob!

Yours Faithfully

So how long before rather than a bunch of cloned credit cards your conman is carrying around a selection of chopped off fingers to pay for his petrol? hehe, does that sound too pessimistic?
Yes indeed.
Got one shipped from the states. Its on pay as you go as well and the data rates are very cheap. You really cant imagine my face when I unlocked it, sitting in my room at home and the little Orange word came up in the corner....more than that I got the E for EDGE coming up and have NEVER lost it. Am down in Kent and from what I can find out, the Orange Edge network is much much BETTER than O2's. For Orange web details I did a quick Google and found all the settings. Its the same on all phones. Works a charm I tell ya. Are you trying to set one up here? Will be happy to send you the settings if you want them.
Well Ive had an iPhone working and unlocked in the UK for the past two months, so just another 249,999 to account for. Is running nicely on Orange now.
can i ask what may turn out to be a silly question. Three is listed in the UK, which as the name implies is a 3G network only, but the iphone is not 3g so how does it work?
Im actually stuck on a Three contract at the moment and have been debating importing an iphone but am unsure if it will work on a 3g network. Can someone shed some light on this? Any other Brits using an iphone on Three?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
