Didn't know Symbian Foundation was talks with Qualcomm. Makes Nokias Symbian phones sound more interesting again while i have been looking only to Android and Maemo direction.
Thought it will be with Symbian^2 that sure isn't Symbian^4 yet where all the changes are going to be(some nice touches on Symbian^3 too). That said maybe Nokia have used the direct UI to customize Symbian like all the other manufacturers will customize Symbian Foundation OS for their own liking? Because where would basic Symbian need snapdragon?
How many times he have to say it's a phone before you guys stop saying tablet :D
Heh i guess as long as enough people don't read these comments Engadget already won :D
Nokia and the major manufacturers don't sell their phones in a same way as Apple or lets say Pre in USA(like you don't know it already). They still sell in much more bigger amounts. It's no lie that Nokia is said to have one of the best logistics of any company. In UK people are buying Nokias, Samsungs, LGs, SE and others from hundreads of unlocked just normal "gadget" stores unlocked(carphonewarehouse example) or Nokia's from carriers(not from one carrier). Nobody will be lining for N97 outside flagship store that got £80 extra on the final price. N95 had more media attention back in the days it was released in Europe and Asia and finally sold that 15-17 million and i didn't see any lines for it other than carphonewarehouse had them out of stock all the time....

Thought Hong Kong seems to be crazy for this phone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAUFGfxG6VI
Sorry but S40 with qwerty.. what? And to Verizon. Sounds really wierd to me.
I mean really. Does Engadget got some kind of Apple answering machine like this account?
Considering that they got 3 of the world 5 biggest manufacturers behind Symbian they surely want to keep things moving. I got big hopes for Nokia, Samsung and SE Symbian Foundation phones for second half of this year and hopefully they deliver.
Well there's one thing I can gather from these posts... there's some strong nationalism going on USA right now, and no wonder as they are focked. Really states have been living on not their cash, and it's all great as it has keeped the world economy running, but it's time to realise the facts and give the flag to another country. And so it continues.
About that weight.. it's 150g. Why would someone want more? It's start to be more of a problem than "good feel".
Sluggishnes comment is kind of wierd when 5800 with the selling FW is as fast on menus as my ipod touch. Thought seeing at the videos it did seem slower thought so i guess there's some tweaks to be done. N96 build quality dosen't really feel right as what i have been reading it has only got excellent reviews on that front and the slider mech made of magnesium has got nothing else than praised. Just can't feel other than your giving this phone a hard time.
Really intrested to see how Nokia's new devices do. While it might be hard to understand for Americans here, 5800 pre orders are totally booked and Nokia haven't yet started any marketing campaign or anything. S60 good future is certain because of the Symbian Foundation where 3 of the top 5 will be making phones. Symbian v9.5 is yet to come.

WM has been absent from Europe since the start so it just continues where it left, in NA. I guess SE could have some change of getting something out from WM, but the price is a bit too much for a mass market phone on X1. HTC is just too small and not known brand to make impact for masses. Just wonder what will Apple do with the 3th generation iphone. People will expect something from them now and it can't be just iphone 3G type of thing next.
Really can't do anything than thank Apple because they really made device that i have wanted for long time(simple UI and design, big screen and focus towards videos, web and music). We will see lots of new devices for this segment and that's a good thing.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
