Have you ever tried to *sort* your files? Much easier when they're labelled yyyy-mm-dd. Otherwise you get every 6-29 from each year lining up, which is useless. A new format hasn't been invented -- it's just easier when dealing with computers. And why do you care?
Why did you type three-G instead of 3G? Isn't that reverse text speak? (And believe it or not, that is most certainly not 1337 speak). At least be consistent with your 12-year-old girl texting.
"I can get a reasonable charge in under half an hour (say 50%)"
This is why they need to start making electric-hydrogen hybrids. Electric when you have time to charge, and hydrogen for long trips that would otherwise require multiple charges (so you can just stop at a hydrogen fuelling station to fill 'er up). Hydrogen is essentially free since it can be produced with no ill effects -- however, using electricity to produce hydrogen is obviously more wasteful than using the electricity directly in battery form, so a hybrid would be ideal. Of course, I know very little about both technologies when it comes to making cars, so I don't know how difficult this is to achieve -- but it would be the holy grail of environmentally friendly cars, in my opinion.
In Canada, we just call it hockey. The yanks added "ice hockey," which is redundant in my opinion. "Ice hockey" is the original and main hockey in existence. Saying hockey should default to 'ice hockey,' and any other hockey games (like ball hockey, roller hockey, field hockey...if you call that hockey...) should be qualified with their descriptor.

In closing: please don't call it ice hockey. It's just hockey. Normally people abbreviate words instead of making them bigger, but apparently people felt the need to expand the term hockey into a phrase. Go figure.
"Does anyone really believe that we will get hit by an asteroid any time in the near future?"
In the year 2020 I think (maybe earlier? I can't recall) an asteroid is set to pass between the Earth and the Moon. That's pretty damn close. We need more monitoring like this in my opinion. What the hell do you think happened to the dinosaurs? (One theory, anyway)
I think that's a valid point (that you will always read physical books), and *currently* I agree, but with e-ink coming up in the future (ignoring the piece of crap e-ink devices out there currently), I think it may be possible to enjoy reading on a device. A nice, thin, book-sized tablet with a protective cover that can flip around to the back on a hinge (like folding a book open to see one page) with simple buttons along the side or bottom would be nice. Of course, it would have to render PDFs nicely or it's a no-go. However, I would much rather carry around one small tablet then 10 books (and reading a book is always awkward when you're trying to hold it open so you can see the text in the middle without breaking the book's spine).

Think about the environment a little, will ya?
Getting slaughtered in the market? Go into a corner and die. Symbian has 60% of the installed user base in smartphones. The iPhone, Palm, Windows Mobile, etc. ALL share that remaining 40%. Symbian is leagues ahead of the iPhone in terms of use. It's not even CLOSE to being slaughtered.

Fanboys, please unite on a cliff -- and then jump. Every f*cking article. DIE.
clak -- TL;DR
"I just hope it's not the same company that built the local university's library. The building is sinking into the ground because they forgot to account for the weight of the books while building the foundation...whoops."

Ha ha, what a joke. You learned that during frosh week, didn't you?

"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
