Just bring a satphone with you on the plane. should work if you point it out the right window
its not illegal to unlock your phone.
When Intel speaks of trust it usually has something to do with DRM or is just part of the grand master plan to keep the hardware they sell under their (and microsoft's) control.
I think the title of this post should have "Keeps you single" in it
Online storage is such a scam. If I had a 2TB external drive I wouldn't need any either. Most people's including my own upstream rate would make it far too painfully slow anyway. If I uploaded at full speed all day I could send maybe 1-1.5TB a year. and when simpleTech gets bought out/goes bust/decides online storage isn't worth it there will be a big rush to get the data off their servers.

I think one would be better off buying a NAS and putting it with someone you can trust - you never know with these cowboys and the particular encryption scheme used might not be too hard to crack a few years down the line when everyones watch is powered by a quantum computer on a chip from Guangdong that costs $.005 of a cent to make
It seems pointless to me, as it will still have to go through mobile phone provider's systems and will therefore be expensive. unless you are just using VoiP over GSM/EDGE or 3G. still $10k could pay for a lot of phone calls.

So you spend 10k so you and other people in the company don't have to go through the trouble of hanging up and calling back when they go into wifi coverage. doesn't really seem worth it
Looks like a bit of a gimmick to me. these things usually are but what I don't understand is why they insist on using microSD. it wouldn't make much difference if they used regular SD or even CF. did anyone ever install linux on something like this?
I been to London recently. There are freakin cameras everywhere you look. Even in the little cute villages outside the M25 many of the old buildings there have a selection of cameras attached to them and signs saying "Protected by CCTV".

also I have had stuff stolen from me and in many cases they won't even show you the footage. The cameras are monitored by some anonymous nobody far away - if its anything less than a stabbing or valuable car being stolen they won't go through the trouble of showing you the tape. People still vandalise bikes even when there are cameras pointing directly at them. In many cases they can't see who commited the crime because the picture isn't clear enough or the guy isn't looking at the camera

these cameras won't be used to convict gangsters, drug dealers and thieves but rather complacent people who might drop a wrapper on the street or steal some wifi and admit their guilt straight away when confronted and offer to pay the £80 fine so they can move along and get on with their life.
if they would only make standard batteries for phones now. i'm sick of all these different li-ion batteries in different shapes and sizes that become extremely hard to find a few years after the phone is released.

Yay, a gadget that uses CompactFlash! *jumps up and down with delight* my favourite type of memory card format. everything else these days uses those puny MicroSD cards :(
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
