@tastypotato Film still reigns supreme - especially if you don't need digital as only news and sports dudes do.
You know high ISO is not for the dark... it is the same as what it meant in film. More shadow detail for a given EI. Nerds that have latched onto and ruined photography for all. :-(

Enterprise... SATA :-S

3.5K USD ... same price as Equal Logic or some lower end EMC units that do SAS as well - but more importantly offer redundant controllers and power supplies and cascading daisy chaining.

You'd have to have rocks in your head to pay for (or use) any of these drobo devices in an enterprise environment. Given what else is out there. By the experts no less. :-s

It's not a range finder.
From the guy who doesn't think learning Chinese is useful - can't even write English!

"decimated"

So they what - took 10% of the glass?

Smashed 10% of the glass door...?

Pathetic.

Actually it has IR problems due to the removal of the AA/IR filter which increases resolution... still a bayer sensor (yuck) but better than the other cameras's out there. Though you can HOT ROD most dslr's and remove the AA filter.

Also CCD's tend to give better image quality than CMOS. More space dedicated to the image capture and not on board circuits. CMOS uses less power though and remains cooler. Point is - it is not accurate to say that CCD is better or worse than CMOS. It is all in the implementation.

For me. I will stick with my FM3a for now with 28 2.8 AIS and 85/2 AIS. Stunning shots there on TMAX+DDX+CoolScan 5000.

RF.

Ah I only know the CMCC ones..... yup lots of calls and international....price of business is sore tonsils.

WAPI died before it was born. It came out at the same time as the original Centrino from Intel was shipping and Intel just said they would not sell all Centrino products in China - as well as other complaints. And WAPI died as quick as it came - just like Green Dam.

Many people WILL get an iPhone this way as they can get it free or subsidised on contract. An iPhone now costs about 150% of the US price with the black market surcharge. There is a risk of breaking and no after sales support or help. For a MAJOR investment for some people, to be able to get it with warranty, repairs and aftersales support, as well as subsidised is a good deal.

My mobile bill is about 1,300 RMB per month. The largest contract on offer is 500 RMB per month and that entitles one to a 1K USD phone for FREE. I would expect people that sign up for the 500RMB plans to get a free basic iPhone and people with lower plans (2-300 RMB) would be happy to pay the 1000 RMB out of pocket.

Not to mention too - that many of the phone companies do deals with banks where people can pay a certain amount now for the phone and then GET THE MONEY back in 1 year at the end of the contract. I do this all the time. I get the phone that requires the up front 1000 RMB extra payment - pay it into the special bank account and then at the end of a year and I go and get it back.

Not sure why they do this - maybe a way to raise liquidity between bank and telco.

Point is - they will fly off the shelves.

I may get an iPhone too as well - but I will get mine from HK so I can have WIFI. With the HK$ so weak against the RMB it may be cheaper still...

Half of the girls in our office have one - as well as their own MacBooks now (that they put windows on) - because it "Looks Pretty".

Cashed up Chinese middle class have on an equal comparison basis much more disposable income that many people around the world. And there are A LOT of super rich Chinese too. In the millions.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
