Really, if you're leaving devices like your TV and HD-DVD on standby, you should switch them off and save energy.

All I leave on is my TV cable box (to record), my router, and my cable modem, and mobile / iPod on charge. And that is every week or so.

How can this let legacy devices connect at full speed?

Surely it would just connect at whichever WiFi standard (A/B/G/G+/N) that both devices supported.

If I had this and my PS3, surely it would only connect at G?

Exactly.

Digital downloads (especially HD on demand) will only really come when sufficiently fast broadband connections are available the world over, ie fibre.

"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
