Im still playing mass effect 1 right now.
I like what they are doing with the sequel! a must buy!
SEEFX and GENIUS.

Well it depends what your needs are. As you said, you dont do press or event shooting. I work as a photojournalist where ruggedness, high ISO performance and weather sealing are very important. The D700 shooting a night time football game while its raining is the perfect camera, short of buying a D3. The 5d MkII on the other hand is not sealed and the extra mega pixels are just over kill for my needs.

On the other hand, if you are shooting for a catalog or images for advertising, the D700 might not have enough resolution for you and the 5D is perfect.

It isnt that Nikon is falling behind, its just both systems are aiming their cameras at a different audience (at least with the D700 and 5D).
For my uses, I would choose the D700 over the 5D, but both are great light boxes.

Different strokes for different folks, folks.
Heck yeah! I just bought a 8900 (awesome phone). I hope this theme works for it.
There are a lot of great features on this camera that would make it appealing to the average consumer.
The problem for me is that it doesnt have a second control wheel. That huge for anyone that needs a camera to respond as well as it can take photos.
But like a said before, nice feature set.
Good come back Dr. Awesome.
Throwing insults and stereo types instead of using logic to refute their arguments.
While were throwing insults and stereotypes, why dont you get back in your Hummer and drive home
to worship at your George W Bush shrine, while listening to some Rush Llimbaugh. Then go work on your plan to
Bomb Iran, destabilize the middle east and help start WW3.
BTW...Im not left wing, nor do I have patchouli dreads or tidi shirts. I just think your obnoxious and closed minded.

More power to Tesla, I hope their technology helps make green vehicles for all kinds of needs (whether those needs be economy car, sports car enthusiasts, or people like farmers who ACTUALLY NEED a big truck for their livelyhood)
Id rock the cork case=)
then again i liked the brown zune=)
Photojournalist here...My vote is for the Nikon d3=)
The 5D and d3 are completely different products. I work full time as a photojournalist and while 5Ds are great cameras, I would never rely on a 5d to shoot a forest fire or any other news event that would demand a rugged and / or fast body.

Nikon actually made a great move making the d3 the way it is. The 1d mk3 doesnt have full frame and the 1ds mk 3 isnt as fast and cost a hell of a lot more. Nikon made a camera that offers something canon doesnt in this camera.

Canons great and if i wasnt invested in Nikon i might have switched. Im looking forward to the d3 and as a pro am glad they finally came out with a camera worthy of the Nikon name.
IMHO the competition on the pro digital front is just beggining
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
