More examples of why android is OLDHAT for me....

no6969el wrote: "I didnt like the onscreen keyboard... so I downloaded another app that replaces it. Now its skinned with my fav team.. or fav color.."
OH, you mean just like Windows Mobile has had for years.

no6969el wrote: "I like to use my laptop when im out and about but lack internet.. well downloaded the wifi/3g tether app and Walla.. i can."
OH, you mean just like Windows Mobile has had for years. Tethering that is.

no6969el wrote: "Say I didnt like my home screen... cool, just download a different home app and walla."
Oh, you mean just like Windows Mobile has had for years.

no6969el wrote: "whats that? You ran out of space on your internal storage for apps.. thats ok.. android can be modded to run apps of SD..."
Yea, Windows Moble for years again.

no6969el wrote: "Ahh.. i dont like my dialer.. its cool.. i just changed it to one I like better the other day.."
rinse, repeat...

no6969el wrote: "what else... oh yea.. sitting at home, see a commerical for a newer android phone.. see a kick butt feature that I dont have.. so I log onto XDA developer forums.. find the proper files and guess what. My phone has the newer phones special features."

Yea, again, pretty much like any Windows Mobile phone has been for years.

So what you've confirmed is that Android is doing the same thing that WiMo has been doing for years only they're marketing it better so people think that it's better.
And by "cheaper" it's obvious that he means more crappy, not less expensive. You know they'll keep the price around $60us and give us some crap like "Oh, but it IS less expensive once you consider inflation and the world economy".

Meh. Games are already cheap (not expensive). Worse, most of them are crap with no substance and only a lot of pomp and flash to them. Cut back on the incredible and fantastic (albeit, mostly pointless) graphics and add more depth and breadth to the story.
@spectralfish

My wife. She's looking for something to replace her pink Palm Centro since it's button's are wearing through.
Honestly, I'm excited about this. It has two important things for an electronic book reader.

1. Small, pocketable size.
2. Backlight so it can be viewed in bed without bothering the significant other.

As a bonus, it's under $200. Make the 5" version $99 and you'll have parents buying them for their little kids, grandparents and themselves. I for one am wanting something to replace my Tapwave Zodiac. It's living on borrowed time.

I want a BOOK reader. Not newspaper, not web browser, not a device whose wireless service won't be supported when the carrier upgrades their network. Keep it simple, small and so I can read in the dark.
Wait, they can't even get their xbox.com website to work with WinMo and IE mobile, yet they're going to try to get XboxLive to work with it?

Seriously, hardly any of microsoft's webpages work on IE for mobile. You'd think THEY could get that to work if anyone can. And yes, I have a Windows Mobile phone and love it.
Odd, I'm usually the guy who thinks a game was crap. Yet, I actually like ODST. More so that Halo2 or 3. Much more so than MW2. I like a game that lets me forget about stress and have fun playing without worrying about too much realism.

There are a few things I don't like though. I don't like the long time inbetween saves. Being able to rejoin the campain only a chapter starts is crap. I should be able to rejoin at my last checkpoint and not have to spend an hour just to get back where I left off.

Nor do I like the fact that the save system is totally screwed and I keep getting bounced back to prior missions. There's more "save" problems too.

Seriously, I don't get a lot of time to play. Only a few hours a week, so the fact that I've been bumped back to the second chapter more than 15 times is total BS.
@Pies
Isn't that the truth. If they did, it'd cost $2000.00.
I don't trust these studies. I sure know that I was never asked what phone OS I have. So how can they state figures to the single digits? I'll quote them " ComScore asked respondents what type of phone they own, and derived operating system information based on those responses."

So, this tells me that they did a survey and based on what was sent back, they came up with a number.

Sorry, but most WM type people aren't into surveys, while RiM and iPhone type people love them. Which means that if only a handful of WM people sent the survey back, the survey is going to have them with lower numbers.

See! Mine way is just as precise as their way.

My god. Make one with a freaking built-in light!!!!

This was all a marketing ploy started back in the single digit gigibyte hdd days. I think it was western digital or seagate who decided to market their (actual) 2GB drive as a 2.14GB drive. This was back when Maxtor was killing WD in the brick and mortor store sales. So, WD or Segate tried to "one up" maxtor buy implying they had more space for the same cost.

Back then, they didn't even specify on the box that they were using base 10. That took about six months when other companies threated to sue.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
