hey sinfuljosh, you should read the Terms Of Use before trying to criticize others or else you will look like an idiot.

"Microsoft reserves complete and sole discretion with respect to the operation of the Service. Microsoft may, among other things: (a) restrict or limit access to the Service; (b) retrieve information from the original Xbox, Xbox 360 console, personal computer, and any connected peripheral device used to log onto the Service as necessary to operate and protect the security of the Service, and to enforce this contract; and (c) upgrade, modify, withdraw, suspend, or discontinue any functionality or feature of the Service, any game or other content available or accessible through the Service, or any hardware or software associated with the Service or with an original Xbox or Xbox 360 console, or personal computer, from time to time without notice, which may involve the automatic download of related software directly to your original Xbox, Xbox 360 console, or personal computer, including software that prevents you from accessing the Service, playing pirated games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices."

"playing pirated games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices"

so looks like they got their bases covered.

stop going back to your Xbox hackers delight forum to get your information bias.
look at his post history. He's obviously a troll.
Did he actually mention Battlefront or is that Joystiq putting words in his mouth because Battlefront is a licensed property and not an intellectual property. big difference
they should have copped a lot more like the font rendering and get rid of the registry.

they should have standardized the look like the Firefox 3.7/4.0 mockups.
sucky-sucky fow five dolla
why do people feel the need to tell us that they read books on their iPhone? of course you can read but I don't want to get a headache and ruin my eyes from focusing on a 3-inch screen with low resolution backlit screen.

backlighting is not even an issue if you've used one. the e-ink is so high contrast that you can read in dim light.

if you think e-readers are expensive then you aren't the target audience. these things will be popular with students
I don't think that screen is glossy (it better not be)
"In other words, Amazon could deny you access to all your purchased books if you make an illegal copy of just one -- unimaginable by brick-and-mortar standards where a Wal-mart could take your entire CD collection should you decide to rip a single disc."

I've heard the argument that copying music is not equal to shoplifting so why do you make the same comparison when it serves your interests?
1. Get a briefcase. E-ink is supposed to be really flexible so maybe in 5 years you can fold it in your pants pocket.

2. The iPods are around $200-$400 and they're popular. I want an E-reader that can play music and browse the web, now that would be worth $400. No more eye strain and a pocketable laptop.

3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ44Z-g1WUU
Plastic Logic has a pretty good GUI making it easy to take notes and switch tabs.

4. I'm pretty sure the lack of a backlight is what makes e-readers so readable.

5. I'm more concerned about refresh rate. It would make reading so much faster if an e-reader could incorporate Spreader (google it) so you don't have to move your eyes.
Recession antidote giveaway?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
