I'm not going to miss the optical drive, but I'm actually more concerned about the SSD rumour. In my opinion, that should be optional. The problem with a SSD is that dual booting with XP will be impossible because of lack of space.
These alu-macbooks were rumoured to be either a Macbook replacements or a new ultraportable in the Pro series. To me this Macbook update indicates that the latter is true, i.e. we'll get a new Macbook Pro "Nano" in January, and no new Macbook.
And I guess that 1.5kg is also with the 3 cell battery..? Seemed to good to be true. And with one hour battery life on 3 cell battery, 5 hours on the 6 cell sounds like wishfull thinking.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
