It seems like the part of this technology that makes it economically viable, novel, and currently relevant is that they are synthesizing this material with nanoscale dimensions so that the aluminum is efficiently used in the reaction.
Very clever idea. Frankly, I'm hoping that it works and catches on in a big way, but only in the interest of possibly reducing the RIAA's incentive to take folk to court.
Don't bother posting it where I suspect you meant to either; it's not a funny caption.
I'm not going to speak on whether or not Engadget readers go to NYTimes for their political commentary. However, I am quite certain that no one wants to read your political commentary in the Engadget comments.

That's the second death in 2 days of a person or a thing on my patented "Incredibly Annoying People/Things List" ; I guess it has more power than I thought.
@Will: I agree with you on couple points, however, no need for something like this to inspire an angry rant. It may be true that current electric cars are not as energy conservative as people make them out to be, but I would wager they are still largely better than a normal gas-car if you are counting production and maintenance. Don't piss and bitch about electric cars, encourage them. If the research keeps up to solve some of the problems you mention, they *could* become a part of the solution.

And you are right, nuclear energy is vastly underrated and overlooked, there needs to be much much more.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
