I configured the XPS M1530 with just one upgrade - 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT. That + the mini is costing me $1398 + taxes (free shipping). Is this a good deal?

For some reason it wont let me upgrade the mini to 1 GB RAM even though it let me do it when i paired it with XPS M1330.

Thanks!
Can we sue you for your low IQ?
lol@hellaphunt for pretending to be a hacker/programmer. How pathetic.

engadget has never limited itself to just gadgets. For example, CPU/GPUs are not exactly gadgets, they are parts of it. A new version of iTunes - gadget?
If you have been reading engadget long enough it should be obvious that gdgt (or should it be iGdgt) will be an Apple fanboy mecca. Membership requirements are below:
1. Apple logo tattooed in a public part AND a private part of your body.
2. 14 day boot camp where you pledge allegiance to Apple. Steve Jobs is your new and only deity.
3. You believe Ryan Block is always right. Even when he is wrong. If you think he is wrong you just dont get it. You are an infidel and will be banned.
They make a lot of difference. You have to try it to believe it. Since these things block out external noise, you end up listening at lower volume and it can save your ears. Plus you will see a significant improvement in sound quality when compared to stock earphones that come with most mp3 players.

But keep in mind though - as you go into the higher end phones ($200 USD + range), music at low bitrates (lower than 192kbps or so) will start to sound really crappy.
Listening to jazz, classical etc does not make you superior. I listent to all genres and have a really expensive audio system (Linn system. if you have not heard of Linn, stop reading/commenting on this thread).

Most people dont give a shit about audio quality. Dont call yourself an audiophile and then say you will buy this sony player. This is mid-range at best. My redbook players costs 1000 bucks and i dont call myself an audiophile. Stop calling people dummies and pretend to be this upscale, know-it-all audiophile.
$1500 is nowhere near hardcode audiophile budget. This is more of an "audio-enthusiast" player. I have an SACD player with about 10 SACDs. For $1500, a pure redbook player will most likely sound as good or better than this player. There are so few albums available on SACD that its really not worth any investment. I use my SACD player primarily as a redbook CD player.

Also its not just about 5.1 channels. The 2-channel audio is also of better quality (the difference depends on what player you have and what system you have).
Ryan Block's IQ is negative I think. This post is so lame and full of grammatical errors. Is engadget seriously mocking Bill Gates? This is a new low.
The article says its sad that this is not an Apple knockoff. If it was indeed an Apple knockoff, the article would still have had a negative tone. Some of these engadget articles seem like they were written by some ignorant teenage Apple fanboy who hugs his macbook while sleeping.

A lot of the posts here are good posts on engadget. But one or two articles like these just ruin the day.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
