#8. I've got to completely agree with you there. That is one damn good piece of PR. I'm a person who has never purchased a system before basically because I've never been interested in first person shooters, sports or fighting games, but the combination of active gaming and new types of games make me pretty sure I'm going to get one of these things.
Wow. This is awesome. I collect old photographs, some of them quite old. And I have loads of them of which I have no digital records. Though you can usually sort by date according to clothing or technology in the photo, this would still be awesome. Yeah, I'd be one of those to use this. And I'm under thirty.
First of all, surely it has occurred to everyone that these things will drop in price once the concept becomes more common. This will also mean that companies will produce them with more options and allow people to purchase readers with the ability to read a wide variety of file types (see DAPs). Second, let’s say that ebook purchases remain the same price as the print media purchases. Is it really such a pain to buy a gadget which will eliminate so much of the waste that hard copy books and papers use? I’m no expert of course, but the first things that come to mind are energy to print and produce media, exhaust and fuel consumption to deliver it and then the media itself – most people do not save newspapers for home libraries. This is particularly true of e-ink books as they use so little battery power.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I am a bit weary of excess packaging so this just screams "crowded landfill" to me. Is this a big problem for people right now? Last time I checked, gas stations still sold beer from a cooler. Alternatively, if you are out in the woods camping or some such, why havent you purcahsed one of those serious coolers that can keep ice for a week? But then again, I don't think that people for whom Miller is marketed are the type to have many concerns beyond either getting wasted or watching NASCAR.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
