The MacBook Air is .16"-.76". All of the MacBook Pros are less than an inch thick. So, unless this Vaio X is in a wedge shape with .5" as the maximum width, it's debatable as to whether the Air is thinner or not.
Your language ("obituraries were penned") is way too similar to the nytimes article. I read this blog entry and immediately noticed the similarity to the article which I had read a few days ago. You should be more careful in case others have noticed.
Hey, it's from CityRail.
Sounds good!
Why did they make Alicia fugly :(
It's a 14" iBook running fake-Windows with an iSight attached. It is a 14" one because of the gap on the sides of the keyboard. It has been shopped around the hinge to eliminate the iBook logo which sits beneath the screen, which has had the effect of extending the screen a bit and causing the appearance of the odd mirror effect.
After spending a billion years waiting with the Sling support people trying to fix the Slingbox AV I have, I really wouldn't mind one of these! I get such great video quality now it seems a shame to waste it on a small window on my desktop.
This seems a bit gratuitous for a computer that looks like any other X-series. Expensive, reasonably small and light, etc.

What's so remarkable about it? I can understand stories about the creation of the Air which actually had a remarkable goal - to be super duper thin and consumer-friendly. But this one? I don't understand the angle here. IBM\Lenovo have released this kind of laptop every year or so for a decade, and this is just the latest spec bump.
I very much liked this review, but I'm surprised he didn't take issue with the 4 hours of playing time. In Portal he expounded on why it's OK for a game to be short, but in this one.. I don't know. CoD4 is less justified to be as short a game as it is because it's so less remarkable than portal (which, I still believe, should definitely be marked down for its lack of longevity).

So the fuck what? How often do you need to do that?

The iPhone is a great device, partially because its interface is streamlined in many cases. It works differently than a standard phone, in the sense that it has been designed with usability in mind, above providing every little possibly feature in an arcane submenu.

You might as well regard the iPod's lack of an FM reciever as comedy, but most people seem to have let go of that now as they're proven wrong time and time again.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
