HDR imaging for the cheap and gifted {Engadget}

Jul 17th 2009 11:45AM While HDR is "cool", it's certainly not something to be applied to every image. A lot of times people overdo it and it just looks like crap, or more precisely like those lighted photographs that are sold in malls with little motors behind a water fall that makes the waterfall appear to shimmer. :P

Video: Teenager's new i-LIMB prosthetic hand is super cool {Engadget}

Jan 22nd 2009 3:00PM For certain registers of speech and in certain dialects, this is actually 'correct', or rather, completely grammatical. On the other hand, how can you argue something is 'incorrect', if there's no body that governs English language standards? All of the rules that govern English language 'correctness' are based off of random and badly documented traditions; for instance, the Cockney lack of word-initial 'h' has affected some usages in North American English that some people consider to be more 'correct' than others; while the mere writing of these usages is in opposition to how people actually speak, or in opposition to the grammatical rule that does exist in their speech. Take for example, 'an historical'; this is perfectly fine if you're a Cockney speaker: "'e got an 'aircut", but sounds completely wrong if you do pronounce that initial 'h', since the rule for a/n usage is one of consonants and vowels.</digression>

Nov 13th 2008 2:26PM AIM is somewhat of a crappy protocol for the tyep of devices people try to access it from, so it's not a surprise. I've had those issues too, but with jabber and gtalk, it seems to be fine and handles intermittent internet connectivity well.

Oct 14th 2008 5:05PM Fugliest! Apple'd approve of that one too.
