Then I guess we should learn about explosive decompression, beriberi, septic shock, hydrofluoric acid, scaphism and every other esoteric way to die?

Wait, is my sarcasm detector out of juice?
Did you know about water poisoning before this?

If you did, do you think the average person on the street knew about water poisoning or even in light of this death, now knows about water poisoning?

Do you even understand what causes water poisoning?

Ass.
Misanthrope, indeed.

Also, people who cite the McDonald's case as an excessive lawsuit forget this:

"Liebeck was wearing cotton sweatpants; they absorbed the coffee and held it against her skin as she sat in the puddle of hot liquid for over 90 seconds, scalding her thighs, buttocks, and groin.[10] Liebeck was taken to the hospital, where it was determined that she had suffered third-degree burns on six percent of her skin and lesser burns over sixteen percent.[11] She remained in the hospital for eight days while she underwent skin grafting. During this period, Liebeck lost 20 pounds (nearly 20% of her body weight), reducing her down to 83 pounds.[12] Two years of medical treatment followed."

There is such a thing as a frivolous lawsuit and there is such a thing as an excessive jury reward but where the line should be drawn cannot be determined. Anyone who's been in a jury room determining civil damages should be able to see how difficult it is.
I'm glad someone beat me to this.

Pfft. Joystiq.
It's possible that they meant that someone who shops at Wal-Mart is inclined to save money - in much the same way that someone who's going to buy a medium format digital camera for such a low price is *also* inclined to save money.
That's an effectively pointless distinction that people like to make.

I think it's pretty safe to say that most educated people are aware of the difference between the swastika as the ancient world used it and the hakenkreuz as it was used in WWII. It's already been addressed in the comments - the distinction between the two has become totally meaningless and all the party trivia in the world won't change that.
Did you guys realize how deep into the annals of Roman Numerals you'd have to go when you started the KIRF series?

I hope to see a C in my lifetime.
I've read my share of SkyMall and they actively encourage you to take the catalogue.

'Cause like, maybe you you want to buy orthopedic shoe inserts after you land.
@elaborate scenario spinners

No no! This is like

::really elaborate metaphor involving plumbers, repairmen, money, photographs and priceless jewels::
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
