I've actually read from various sources before that infra-red light stimulates cell growth. Perhaps there is something to it after all.
Yep. A lot of people don't seem to get it. The smaller readers are useless for academic/professional uses while this should be much better. Those are also areas where a e-reader can be highly beneficial because text books, stacks of journals, manuals etc are can be pretty large and heavy.
Ok I want one
I can't believe they actually went with the leaked design. I thought it was some kind of sick joke or misdirection. May God have mercy on their souls for unleashing such ugliness onto this world.

The consensus is that these 6" devices are simply not big enough for letter-sized or similar PDFs. A 8.5x11 page on a 3.6x4.8 device is gonna be painfully small.

You might wanna look into the iRex iLiad instead. It's the only commercially available e-ink device that is bigger than 6". Very expensive though.
I happen to use cap lock a lot. When coding one often has to type long strings in all caps (e.g. constants) and holding Shift during the sequences can be straining, so I turn cap lock on and off very frequently. I wonder if you can turn that feature off. I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't. Apple knows what's best for you after all.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
