I'm a Goddess of War, Retail Beetches! {old GameDaily blog}

Mar 15th 2007 1:25PM I find your comments relevant and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I HATE the guy at the EB here because they are patronizing bastards when it comes to dealing with any woman. These people who are commenting don't understand why this is so frustrating, and couldn't understand unless they're a woman. The father comes closest.

This nails it:

It never ceases to astonish me how placating game advisors can be; I almost can understand why more girls don't game. Why would anyone possibly want to join a group that assumes you don't know what you're doing within 5-10 seconds of seeing you? And then, once you prove your worth to them -- which you must do to earn a convoluted respect -- you turn into hot, "I want a girlfriend like you who games" prototype. If you want a girlfriend who games, stop treating women like second-class gamers who only buy 'Barbie Horse Adventure' and 'Super Princess Peach!'

There won't be any more serious girl gamers unless we stop treating the ones that are around like this.

And @#2, Tarquin... she said she was boycotting -this- location. And #4, Andy -- she said she used to work at GameStop. Do you people even read before you start spouting? Or did you just skim and see that it was a woman's rant about how she was treated? I guess at that point, you think you know everything there is to know.

DS Daily: How many games do you buy a year? {DS Fanboy}

Feb 15th 2007 2:22PM @#2 - I am so with you. In the last three or four months, I've probably acquired 7 DS games, and I think I've really gotten to play two of them so far. I need a vacation so I can play my games!

Forecast channel under casual fire {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}

Jan 3rd 2007 6:11PM @Alex, #3

We are a blog, not a newspaper, and we don't just report news, y'know. We also talk about what's worth talking about, and this is, if nothing else, apparently an interesting subject for discussion, since people are just discussing away!

To others: I do think it should work properly (and I agree about the five day forecasts for more cities!), but I expect that, like the browser, this isn't quite finished. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it will improve.

One thing I don't get -- turning on your Wii, fumbling for Wiimote, waiting for channel to load... me, I think it would be faster/easier to pull up local weather on the computer. Me, I tend to check out the forecast channel when I'm already doing other stuff with my Wii... i.e., it's not a big draw for me itself, but I use it occasionally. So maybe it's not as big a deal for someone like me. I'd be more likely to be cranky if the extended forecasts were wrong.

2007: the year of the DS (again) {DS Fanboy}

Jan 2nd 2007 2:07PM We do have a "best of 2006" list -- it's called the whole site. You don't want us to reprint it all, do you?

Couldn't resist! :) But it WAS one hell of a year.

2007: the year of the DS (again) {DS Fanboy}

Jan 2nd 2007 12:32AM You're in the minority there, it seems. But even most people who liked Wind Waker didn't much care for the sailing, and it'll be back in PH.

Peeking at Cooking Mama's potential {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}

Dec 29th 2006 2:56PM I would agree with that on Trauma Center for the most part -- but there are some things about it I don't like (mostly that it's really just a port, no matter what they say), but I'll mention more on that later. As for the controls and such, yes, I fully agree -- TO is a great benchmark for how the Wii can take an interesting DS game and make it better.

DS Fanboy presents: Game Night (12/19/06) {DS Fanboy}

Dec 19th 2006 5:35PM We may see about rotating times or days come the new year, and taking Mario Kart out of the poll next week is a great idea!

DS Fanboy contest: Sumo Omni {DS Fanboy}

Dec 15th 2006 1:22PM No, this is not limited to USA only.

Showing the Wii who's boss [update 1] {DS Fanboy}

Dec 13th 2006 4:19PM Oops on the misnomer there. It's just... just... noble pink > coral pink.

And we need Enamel Navy here. I demand Enamel Navy!

It's all fun and games .... {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}

Nov 23rd 2006 4:02PM My best friend (who is too damned tall) nearly took out the ceiling fan. He's now only allowed to play on the right side of the room.

I'm getting some Wii Sports elbow myself, but damn, I can't stop. It's too much fun.
