the picture on the tv? Its a space shuttle on top of a 747. That's how they move the shuttle from place to place. You didnt think they just built the shuttle on the launch pad, did you?
yeah, this sounds so much more dangerous that the 17 gallons of highly combustible fluid i squirt into my car every other week.
Mark and Perrey, both of you need to get the law right. Making threats such as the one made by the first poster would most likely not be illegal, almost certainly not a felony. That is true if the threatened victim is Steve Jobs or the President. There is a seperate federal law making threats against the President a crime, but that law has requirements that must be met. It is unlikely those requirements were met here (assuming the target was the President and not Stevo). Anyway, just my two cents... really had nothing to say about the iPhone.
Keep in mind, that i meant STB each time i said STP (sorry, i had the band stuck in my head).
If you use a STB, you will not need a cablecard. The cablecard is meant to eliminate the need for a STB, not supplement it. So if you really wanted PPV and On Demand, then you just get an HD STP from TimeWarner and plug it directly into the TiVo.

The series 3 does, however, have a dual tuner. I am unsure, however, if it can record two shows in HD at the same time. (I know the Series 2 which has a dual tuner will only work with one cable box, not two.) If the S3 lets you record simultaneously in HD, then you can have ONE cablecard in the back, and the STP hooked up to the TiVo's video input (through HDMI i'd assume). But in that situation, you'd still only use ONE cablecard.
Thanks, that's what i figured. I still don't understand why the recording has to be converted on a Series 2 that is connected to a digital cable box... why isnt that a digitial signal to a digital recording?
I'm pretty sure i can guess the right answer to my own question, but just to be safe: will the HD TiVo degrade the picture quality of recorded shows the same way a normal TiVo does? (because the picture quality on a normal TiVo is not as good as what I would see if the cable box went straight to the tv).
What is the difference between the PZ600 series and the PX600U series? Panny just released a new 50inch a couple of months ago (TH-50PX600U), why are they releasing another 50in plasma in September?
DMCA only protects copyrighted information (such as a DVD or a book)... there is nothing that i am aware of that is copyrighted here.

Not saying that what they did is legal, just not really a DMCA thing. Similarly, i'm not saying what they did is illegal either.

And on another point, while time and place may be a "trade secret" there are no legal protections for mere secrets... copyright, patents, and trademarks are unique... and a trade secret is none of the above.
If i were the surviving Beatles, i'd hold out just to screw Michael Jackson... he owns the publishing rights to the majority of the Beatle's songs. (i'm not entirely sure how publishing rights work, except i think jackson is entitled to a share of the profits from royalties). Unless he had to sell them to finance his legal problems.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
