Meh, I'll just wait for it to come OTA, not really worth the effort in my opinion.
Tin foil hats go!

Really though, automotive companies don't have the money to invest in every single technology that comes along. They are trying to make money (which is difficult now). It costs a lot to even just develop a new piston ICE let alone develop something completely from scratch that may not end up working.
I think it'd be kind of cool if they used these to put the free software a lot of magazines put on CDs now.
What? That makes absolutely no sense...because they're trying to run a business efficiently you won't buy one of their products?
And the Champ Car lap record is 1'05.880, so MotoGP is fail. Bikes are never as fast as cars because they have to slow down a lot more through turns.
Phil: I believe they don't include arms in tests like this because they aren't seen as a serious risk or could effect the test in a significant manner. These tests are to check for survivability. Broken arms can completely heal head and spinal injuries do not.
But it also takes a lot of force to break the carbon fiber. Take a look at an Indy Car/CART/F1 crash since they started using mostly CF constructions. They cars blow themselves apart, which dissipates the energy around the inner rigid safety tub. Serious injury occurs when that inner tub is breached (Alex Zanardi) or the crash is especially violent (Greg Moore).
Reading the ENCAP page and the descriptions of the videos, it more or less seems like this is a round about way of requiring side impact air bags and making sure they go off this sort of impact. The YouTube pages for the videos explain more about the results, as well. The hard top failed (since the air bags didn't go off, really high HIC) but the convertible passed.
Pole diameter is 254mm, according to the test spec. Which equates nicely into 10 inches.
Oh hai, can u upgrade my RAM.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
