Now they're going to have to call Woz back from his harem for these six months.
The issue is that the coupon is for $40 and the boxes are $49 .. I think there is tax added on too so that's like $15 out of pocket for most people, and that's assuming they understand the need. And believe it or not there are a lot of old people on social security who can't afford that $15. The proper way to have done this is to have sent out the DTV boxes like phone books or something .. I bet these boxes cost $5 to make in China so competitive bidding would have gotten the cost down. Also for 2 weeks after the transition they should transmit a loop about the need to get a DTV box and an 800 number to call for service to have someone come over and do it. Oh yeah Obama should be in that loop too saying how it isn't his fault.
If Obama thinks delaying the transition will avoid issues and make him look good, he's wrong. People who have not bought the boxes by Feb 17th won't have them by July 17th either, nor will they have them by 2010. But in 2010 people will blame Obama for the chaos (caused by themselves) instead of Bush (who isn't at fault either).
The cool thing is not just that it's handheld but it's also cheap.

Celestron has a very very similar (if not the exact same) thing http://www.celestron.com/c3/product.php?CatID=31&ProdID=557
Palm needs to sell this cheap so they can establish market share again.
This could be a good side business for someone especially graphic artists ..they could make professional looking but low cost custom embroidered shirts for various occasions/organizations .. the $9000 could actually pay for itself.

Umm if if u start such a company make me a partner.
For me, I prefer N97 (I own an iPhone already). But I think if this is priced CORRECTLY then it should be a hit.

For most engadget readers, who claim their eyes can't detect 200 dpi even up close .. this phone is good. But I can see up to 1200 dpi up close so I prefer the high res of the N97 because it will make a difference in making web pages readable without having to zoom in.
Question is .. what's it priced at?

It's no iphone killler, but if priced right it can probably shake things up on the low and mid range.
It's good for wildlife photography. The wildlife will look at it's reflective whiteness and then you can take a picture before they run away.
So far I am thinking why not android.

Also, tackling the sync issue is old .. from like 1999, there are already solutions, even microsoft has some good ones. It's not that big of an issue.

That first device is HVGA, which is better than QVGA .. but it's 2009 .. I expect WVGA.

I hope the price is low.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
