Mel Gibson: Perspectives from a Jewish Fan {Cinematical}
Aug 2nd 2006 8:26AM I think someone in this comment thread accussed Israel of imperialism. That is laughable. Syria occupied Lebanon for 30 years. Iran wants to spread Shiia Islam through its client Hezbollah, and a Shiia leader just said publically that he wants to have Islam return to Spain. All Israel wants is a tiny piece of land on which is its ancestral homeland. The Palestinians want the total destruction of Israel. There are about 16 million Jews in the world, a billion Catholics, and a billion Muslims. Mel's remarks, if they were made about Black folk in America (something just as horrible) it would have gotten all the left wing out attacking him. But, if someone says something about Jews, then the Jews are accused wanting to destroy a man's career. If the restuarant owner down the street says something racist, I do not have to return to eat there. I shall not be viewing any more of Mel's movies. If his career tanks, oh well. Let him go elsewhere for contrition.
Mel Gibson: Perspectives from a Jewish Fan {Cinematical}
Aug 2nd 2006 8:16AM It is not a matter of being thin skinned. It is a matter of, why should I (we) support a man who hates me (us)? Sure, I like d the Mad Max movies, and Braveheart, but why should I give him any more money? The issue is not forgiveness. The early rabbis said, You can know a man's true character two times: When he is angry and when he is drunk. What is Mel apologizing for? For saying what he said or for believing it? What is he sorry for? Having had his inhibitions lowered by alcohol? He only said what he feels and believes. Why should I or anyone forgive him for that?

PETA and Outback talk chicken {Slashfood}
Apr 28th 2006 12:49PM Laura Dear,
I am quite educated, and the correct treatment of chicken is to bread it and fry it up!
PETA and Outback talk chicken {Slashfood}
Apr 27th 2006 5:32AM The idea that gassing chickens is more humane than lopping off their heads is idiotic. It is to appease their own anthropomorphism. I assure you, if you take a hatchet to a chicken's neck, it dies instantaneously. Gassing a chicken sounds really perverse. I think PETA members are like that weird chic in college who insists she is a vegetarian, but you catch her in the bathroom sticking her fingers down her throat and a week later you hear that she set fire to her boyfriend's clothes in a fit of rage.
