Ask Engadget HD: What's the best consumer HD camcorder? {Engadget HD}

Jan 30th 2008 3:11PM I can't because the JVC is a fantastic camera. It does use a weird flavor of MPEG-2 but they give you the codec to use on a PC. On a Mac its best to transcode the files to Apple Intermediate Codec if you plan on editing in Final Cut.

Ask Engadget HD: What's the best consumer HD camcorder? {Engadget HD}

Jan 30th 2008 1:33PM I really like the JVC GZ-HD7. I looked at a lot of HD camcorders before choosing this one. What I really like it that you can record 5 hours with of HD onto its internal HD. It also has a 3CCD imager.

Sep 22nd 2006 1:25PM When I download something that is for sale, if I watched it, I feel obliged to go out and buy the DVD. It is that simple. Just like all software should have a demo period where you can fully evaluate if it fits your needs before plunking down some hard earned cash.

The Optimus mini three sees release {Engadget}

Sep 21st 2006 3:35PM I have one on my desk today. It was a rocky start becuase there is a bug in the software that causes it to go dark when you switch applications after pushing one of the buttons.

I was emailed a patch to test today and so far it is working great. I mostly use it for its CUT, COPY, PASTE functions and for that it is great. There is nothing like hitting a big button to move data from one app to another so I don't have to use CTRL-C and CTRL-V

It would be really useful is the context switching used the current window title in addition to the current application. If this was the case then three buttons would be OK. I can imagine programing this thing to do all kinds of specfic things in specfic dialogs.

So far, by using MacroExpress in conjuntion with its "Hot Key" plugin I have been able to control a medical imaging workstation and other tasks.

Well worth the $100.

Hands-on with the Optimus mini three {Engadget}

Sep 20th 2006 9:48AM I got mine a few days ago.

The software is crap. When switching applications the things just up and dies. I tried several different machines and several vendors and it happens on all of them. Exiting the software and restarting will turn the thing back on but man what a pain.

I tried to cut and from OpenOffice Writer to a few web forms and it died every two or three application switches.
