I'm not saying their suit has merit, I'm just trying to point out that it's not quite as ridiculous as say, T-Mobile's suits against anyone what uses the color magenta in their logo.
It seemed from the first few comments on here that everyone was initially in shock and awe because they thought RED was suing over a red-like color. It's not, it's suing for trademark infringement because an HD display is using the same name as RED's HD camcorder.
Honestly though, I'd be interested in seeing PRODUCT (RED) suing RED for trademark infringement.
Actually, RED's smaller pro camcorder (the one shown in the picture above) is called "Scarlet", it's not just a lawsuit over a roughly similar color name, it's the EXACT SAME NAME.
And it's not 3000 colors, guys, it's 3K HD, as in 3072x1728 image size.
...a provision specifically prohibiting developers from creating apps "marketed for... ...emergency or life-saving purposes...
So, if I want to put out an app that shows people step-by step how to perform CPR, the Heimlich Maneuver, or other important First-Aid tasks, Apple will shut me down, huh?
This is no big deal, I'm not sure why people get all worked up about it. "OMG OMG OMG THEY'RE SHIPPING A CAMERA THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO SHIP! QUICK! GET FUZZY CELLPHONE SPY SSHOTS OF THE BOX AND MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT!!!!11"
I've been playing with one for the past week at work. I like it well enough, though I personally liked having the ISO button on the back and the drive mode button on the top myself. High ISO noise in the images is nonexistent at normal ISO's, and still quite bearable even at ISO 1600. Some of the new features are kinda gadgety though... if I ever see someone shooting pictures with live view on an SLR as if they had a point-n-shoot, I'd be hard pressed to suppress the urge to beat them within an inch of their life with their own camera.
My rating? Good piece of kit, decent backup for a pro, great camera for the advanced amateur, I'd buy one today if I had the cash to spend on it. If you're more of a Joe Consumer, do yourself a favor and buy a point-n-shoot instead, I'd suggest the Canon S5-IS.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
