T-Mobile G1 video hands-on {Engadget}
Sep 23rd 2008 1:48PM Browser seemed laggy to user input, but I noticed a big difference between it and the iPhone.. The iPhone only renders the part you are looking at. Many times I have had to wait for the iPhone to render a new section I scrolled to. Whereas it seemed the G1 had the whole page rendered. Also, the fact that he was able to switch programs and come back to the the browser and still have the page loaded...try that with an iPhone.

Sep 20th 2008 6:31PM I work on Nokia base stations for AT&T and I can tell you they do not ALL use HR GSM. They only use it when needed (high traffic cells).
ASUS N10 netbook forgets the streets, ditches Eee moniker {Engadget}
Aug 22nd 2008 6:07PM I don't understand Engadgets obsession with claiming the Eee brand is "diluted". WTF is that supposed to mean? How many different Latitudes does Dell have? Surely more than there are Eees. Does that mean the Latitude name is diluted too? It's making "news" out of a non-point.

FCC treats apartment dwellers to cable competition {Engadget}
Oct 31st 2007 8:50PM One thing that no one has mentioned is that infrastructure at the apartment complex is not set up for multiple cable providers. One of my previous jobs has made me quite familiar with how apartment complexes are wired. Cable (coax) is usually not "home runs" like the phone, its on a riser system. Each apartment is fed from the one below it. With phones, everyone needs their own copper pair to the apartment. With cable, everyone can be provided the same signal and the decoding (what channels you get) was done at the TV/cable box.
Now with this new rule, how exactly do you get two cable providers multiplexed onto one coax? The whole apartment complex would need to be rewired. Who's going to pay for that?
I'm sure they will find a way, but it's just a thought.
Chumby goes on sale {Engadget}
Oct 17th 2007 10:52AM Someone noted that it DID have an ambient light sensor. If the production units don't, it would be a deal breaker for me. Though might be cool for my parents so us kids can push photos to them. Waiting for a google picasa widget...

Oct 17th 2007 1:55AM My biggest concern is if the backlight on the display is adjustable (preferrably automatically). My treo will make it like daylight in my bedroom. I'm not going to be able to sleep with a bright screen on all the time.
