Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
That's something called marketing. "Give up on Pepsi and buy a Coke." Pretty sure that's the standard way any company gets customers.
"But you're probably right, anybody who can't afford even a basic Apple computer probably is only a figment of Apple's imagination."
Not sure exactly where you're going with that. If you don't have the money or won't spend the money to purchase a product, then you don't get the product. It's not a company's responsibility to make sure everyone gets one. Is that how you get a 90% market share - maybe not. But people will pay a premium for a convenient or tightly integrated user experience, and Apple knows that.
