My wifi has been acting up since 10.4.10 update. Sometimes only a reboot will let me back on my wireless G WEP network. MacBook Core Duo.
To me the Zune looks much larger. It looks like a huge and heavy brick.
The only issue I see here is that it is an analog tuner. This will only be useful for 1-3 years, as analog TV via cable will be phased out. I was informed by a Comcast tech that they plan to turn off analog in 2007 and you will be required to have a digital tuner box.
Thanks for reporting this. This looks promising. My wife will be interested in improving her CI. She would like to improve how music is heard, especially as a violinist.
I am psyched. I am going to replace my recently damaged Nano with a cheap Shuffle now. The Nano is too delicate, especially since I ran it through the wash. Doh! I almost bought a new Shuffle last night and decided to wait for the new announcemet. Now it's $20 cheaper, I am getting it.
For those who say analog communication is best have never tried to communicate with deaf people for an extended amount of time. Passing paper works for a few minutes, but it is a slow task. The idea of the screen is feasible. It is called CART, but can be very expensive.
Radu It wouldn't be difficult to add the CC. The shows already are captioned on TV, so they could just transfer over the captions when they convert it. Or maybe it's not as easy I am making it out to be.
My wife uses closed caption on our TV and movies, since she is hard of hearing. I actually enjoy having CC on. Many times in movies or shows, you cannot hear all the dialog.
I like Firefox, but I like Safari much better with its RSS integration. Even with the add-on RSS add-ons to Firefox, you don't see the number of unread RSS articles on the bookmark bar, like Safari.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
