eBay considers PayPal requirement, invites Australians antitrust scrutiny {Download Squad}
May 11th 2008 11:59AM As a former employee of eBay, I see, to remember that Australia was sometimes used as a test market for North America and Europe. They're a small enough segment of eBay, but they're culturally very much like the US, Canada, and much of Europe. It's been a couple of years since I was working there, but changes in Australia had a way of becoming global.

May 7th 2008 12:32PM Um - to the dingus who keeps trying to call Engadget that they got the wrong name, they're comparing the styling to the awesome retro Ti-99 computers of the early 80s.

Comcast shuts down Winer {Download Squad}
Apr 16th 2008 7:22PM My response there is that over-regulation has left us with no competition. I was lucky enough to have DSL available when Comcast started throttling torrents, but I can't say I'm pleased with that option. And is there a third way? Nope, aside from dial-up or overpriced (and latent) satellite, I'm stuck between Comcast and Qwest. Sweet!
Offshoring.com: choose profit over your country {Download Squad}
Apr 16th 2008 3:48PM So this may actually be a net benefit both for small businesses here and for the economy of the Philippines. I've worked extensively with support people in Manila, and while they weren't always up to the same standards as support teams here in the US, they were still pretty solid. $4/hr goes a LONG way towards basics in the Philippines as well. Average wage there is about $3/hour, if you can get work.
Seems like there's a lot of potential for a win-win with this setup.

Apr 11th 2008 6:56PM @ed - One can appreciate different approaches to speed. The new GT-R doesn't make me love the 911 less; neither did my old 320i make me love my '65 Coronet less. One loves an STi because it's a hot Subaru, while one loves a muscle car because it's a muscle car.
To your other point, I can love a Honda 4-cylinder bike and still love a big twin.
As for technology vs. size, same issue, and don't be ignorant. Take the 327 ci Chevy motors in the 60s as a good example of American engineering. Not the biggest, but man, they packed a lot of heat. (Chrysler's 426 is gigantic, but also an engineering masterpiece).
