Mar 7th 2008 1:53PM DirecTV does this with certain channels and similar sports. I think you can get football scores watching football, but you can't get basketball scores watching football... at least last we checked. You can move the highlighter around, hit "OK" and tune to the game if it's available on Directv.
DISH offers to discuss rollout of PBS HD locals {Engadget HD}
Mar 7th 2008 8:29AM add to that list soundstage, austin city limits, american masters, independent lens (host parts are in hd, but sometimes its content isn't), mystery (occassionally), secrets of the dead, this old house, victory garden, wired science.
some children's programming is also available in hd, but it depends on the stations to broadcast them at the time they air from the national pbs hd feed, unless the station can record it in hd and play it later in hd.

XM and Sirius extend merger deadline, blame FCC for not understanding their love {Engadget}
Mar 1st 2008 12:06PM In my understanding of this merger, the direction NAB is with going against this is that they are taking the customer's side... When XM prices change, Sirius is soon to follow, and vice versa. If XM and Sirius merge, there's no other satellite competitor, and they could keep driving the price of subscriptions up. Of course, that would be a bad move if you're the only satellite radio company.
It's the same as any other subscription service, there's just more competition in those other services.

Feb 5th 2008 10:51PM in cincinnati oh, directv had a problem with the fox station... it seemed like it would play, freeze, play, freeze, etc. we also always have problems with the audio from the receiver on whatever channel is in hd, so we just switched to the over the signal through the tv. all was well.

Fox to debut Blu-ray PiP on Sunshine in January {Engadget HD}
Oct 31st 2007 12:42AM don't bash me, cause i'm totally new to this site. i found it through tech stuff on yahoo. i'm neither a supporter of blue-ray or hd dvd... i've not made it into best buy or circuit city and looked at their demo tvs yet. i do not have either the ps3 or the xbox 360. i watch over the air hdtv on a 1994 25" TV. a new tv's on my to buy list, though, just not sure when i'll step up...why fix it if its not broken?
i wanted to know what is possible using PiP in blue-ray/hd dvd... is that like watching the movie and having the director providing commentary on camera during the movie? or is there no use of PiP yet in either hd disk format?
thanks, and just curious, rob
