Nanohealing substance stops bleeding in seconds, vampires protest {Engadget}

May 12th 2008 1:37PM I could have used this over the weekend. I had a massive nosebleed Friday afternoon & Saturday morning, losing a pint or two of blood. Spent most of Saturday in the ER -- I had passed out so they did a CT scan & gave me an IV.

I'm on Plavix & aspirin following an angioplasty in March -- blood thinners & nosebleeds don't mix.

TomTom intros GO 930T and 730T with Lane Guidance and IQ Routes {Engadget}

Mar 3rd 2008 12:11PM They claim to -- I just bought a 7100 as a birthday gift for Dad, and lane guidance is one of the bullet points on the box.

Ask Engadget HD: How do I get more HD programming on my Mac? {Engadget HD}

Jan 2nd 2008 3:03PM I've done it a few times, using a Moto 6200 cable box, recording onto a blue & white G3 using the DigitalDVHS app included in the Apple Firewire SDK. It's a bit cumbersome as my Mac doesn't have the power to playback the HD stream; I have to copy the recorded programs to my Windows Media Center PC to play back.

These days I use the HDHomeRun for the unencrytped HD channels and a Monsoon HAVA Platinum for the encrypted stuff; the G3 is collecting dust at the moment.

CompUSA sends out layoff letters: bad service extends to employees, too {Engadget}

Dec 12th 2007 12:18PM All of them -- CompUSA is going out of business.

Atiz rolls out "first consumer book ripper," the BookSnap {Engadget}

Nov 14th 2007 8:35AM Is it just me, or is the only ripping here being done by Atiz? $1600 for a frame and some lenses/mirrors; sounds like they're charging about $1500 too much.

CE-Oh no he didn't! Part XLIX: Eisner tells striking writers to blame Steve Jobs {Engadget}

Nov 7th 2007 4:35PM Right on the money. A friend of mine worked at Disney in the Eisner era. He & his colleagues used to refer to the company as "Mauschwitz".

Drop that Tilt: HTC releases WM6 upgrade for AT&T 8525 {Engadget}

Oct 31st 2007 9:08AM This upgrade probably won't work directly on the 8125, as the hardware's a bit different between the 8525 & 8125. However, the wizards over at xda-developers should be able to use the official 8525 WM6 to improve the existing unofficial 8125 WM6 upgrades.

SanDisk starts shipping 8GB microSDHC and M2 cards {Engadget}

Oct 30th 2007 8:19AM They don't have them in stock yet. I placed an order with them a couple of weeks ago, expecting to receive something this week. They had expected to receive a shipment on the 26th, but it's been delayed, with no definite word on when it will arrive.

TomTom reacts to Nokia -- formalizes offer for Tele Atlas {Engadget}

Oct 2nd 2007 11:41AM In the Pocket PC/Smartphone world, you can see the cost differential quite directly. Bluetooth GPS units run around $50-$75, while mapping applications using Navteq or TeleAtlas maps run in the $150-$200 range.

Granted, those costs include things other than the GPS chipset & map licensing costs, but it's still indicative of the costs of map data.
